Halifax Panthers secure Betfred Wheelchair Super League League Leaders’ Shield

Halifax Panthers have secured the League Leaders’ Shield in the Betfred Wheelchair Super League with a commanding win over Bradford Bulls on Saturday (22 August).

The Panthers have enjoyed another impressive campaign, losing just once as they push for a place in the Grand Final.

With top spot confirmed, the Final Charge is now focused on second place, with Wigan Warriors, London Roosters and Leeds Rhinos all competing for home advantage.

Wigan recorded an emphatic victory over Edinburgh Giants last weekend, with Jack Heggie starring after scoring five tries and converting all 13 of his goals.

Although Stephen Halsey gave the Giants the stronger start with a third-minute try, Wigan responded after twice falling behind in the opening 20 minutes and then held firm, conceding only once more in the 77th minute.

Close behind are the Roosters, who are level on 20 points but remain third on points difference.

London faced Sheffield Eagles in Round 13 and produced a dominant 72-36 win.

Leeds Rhinos sit fourth after posting the weekend’s biggest score with a 122-8 victory over Hull FC.

The Rhinos will be aiming to reach their second final of the season, having fallen short against the Panthers in July’s Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final.

With one week of the regular season remaining before the playoffs, the top four have one final opportunity to strengthen their position in the Final Charge.
