Sir Kevin Sinfield's 2026 '7 in 7 Challenge' set to finish at Grand Final this Saturday

Kevin Sinfield CBE's 2026 '7 in 7 Challenge' is currently underway, with the Rugby League legend now on Day 4 of his final annual fundraising challenge to raise awareness and funds for the MND community. Sinfield is also carrying the official Betfred Super League Grand Final match ball throughout the seven-day journey before delivering it to Old Trafford ahead of Saturday's showpiece event.

The epic journey will conclude at the Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford this Saturday (3 October).

Earlier this year, Sinfield revealed the route for his seventh and final annual challenge, 7 in 7: The Grand Finale, which sees him return to his roots across the north of England.

Once again, Sinfield and the 7 in 7 team are completing an ultra marathon every day for seven days. The challenge began on Sunday 27 September at the home of Rugby League World Club Champions Hull KR and visits each of the home grounds of the 12 English Betfred Super League clubs before finishing on the pitch at Old Trafford ahead of the Betfred Super League Grand Final in front of 70,000 fans.

Each day is divided into 7km blocks, which Sinfield must complete within the hour before starting his next block. The Extra Mile events have also returned each day, with Sinfield and the team joined by those impacted by MND to complete a mile together.

Since the first annual challenge in 2020, Sinfield and his team have raised more than £11 million for the MND community, with six charities once again benefiting from this year's fundraising efforts. The work of the MND Association, Leeds Hospitals Charity, My Name5 Doddie Foundation, the Darby Rimmer Foundation, MND Scotland and the Irish MND Association continues to be supported by the challenge.

The challenge began on Sunday 27 September at Sewell Group Craven Park, the home of Hull KR, before crossing the city to the MKM Stadium, home of Hull FC, and heading into North Yorkshire through Market Weighton before finishing the opening day at Shiptonthorpe.

On Monday 28 September, the team departed Shiptonthorpe on their way to Bishopthorpe Palace, home of the Archbishop of York. Along the route they called at the University of York and the LNER Community Stadium, home of York Knights, while also passing York Minster and York Racecourse.

Day 3 saw the team travel from Bishopthorpe Palace into West Yorkshire, passing close to Rob Burrow's home in Pontefract before visiting Castleford Tigers and finishing at the DIY Kitchens Stadium, home of Wakefield Trinity. The day included a special moment when the Prince and Princess of Wales surprised Sinfield and the team at Wakefield Trinity in recognition of their remarkable fundraising efforts and continued support for the MND community.

Today (Wednesday 30 September), Sinfield set off from Wakefield ahead of an always emotional return to AMT Headingley, the home of Leeds Rhinos, before heading to Bradford Bulls' Bartercard Odsal and finishing at the Accu Stadium in Huddersfield. As well as being home to Huddersfield Giants, the day carries extra significance because of Huddersfield Town's connection to Marcus Stewart, a close friend of the 7 in 7 team who is living with MND.

The first day of October will see the team cross the Pennines, starting at the Accu Stadium before travelling through Sinfield's hometown of Oldham and finishing at the Peninsula Stadium, home of Salford City FC.

The penultimate day of the challenge on Friday 2 October takes the team from Salford to St Helens via Leigh Leopards and Wigan Warriors.

The seven-year fundraising journey will conclude on Saturday 3 October. The team will set off from the BrewDog Stadium in St Helens, calling at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, home of Warrington Wolves, before making their way to Old Trafford in time for kick-off of the Betfred Super League Grand Final.

It is a fitting venue to bring the challenges to a close, with Sinfield and Burrow having won seven Grand Finals together during their glittering careers at Leeds Rhinos. The Player of the Match in the Grand Final receives the Rob Burrow Trophy, reflecting the lasting impact Burrow's legacy continues to have on the biggest day in the Rugby League calendar.
