Castleford Tigers 44-12 Hull FC

Jake Trueman provided the magic as Castleford Tigers beat Hull FC 44-12 to leapfrog the black & whites into the Play-off spots.

The young half was named Betfred Man of the Match, scored a hat-trick and assisted two tries in the victory.

Cas controlled the game throughout and took the lead when Cheyse Blair went over in the eighth minute.

Trueman then scored two tries to extend the Castleford lead to 18-0 after 18 minutes.

Jamie Ellis converted a penalty after 24 minutes to increase the lead to 20, but Masimbaashe Matongo struck back for Hull just before the half hour mark to take the score to 20-6 at half time.

It took Trueman just one minute of the second half to complete his hat-trick and continue Castleford’s pressure on the FC line. Jack Logan went over for FC after 55 minutes to give Hull a glimmer of hope, but the Tigers made sure there was no chance of a comeback.

Further tries from James Clare, Jordan Rankin and Matt Cook earned Castleford a convincing 44-12 win and made sure the Tigers went into the final round of games in the Play-off spots.

Castleford sit in fifth and ahead of Hull FC in sixth on points difference. The Tigers travel to Wigan Warriors in the final round of regular season games, whilst Hull FC face League Leaders’ Shield winners St Helens at home.
