10 Essentials: Joey Lussick

Recognisable by playing for Salford Red Devils in the journey to the 2019 Super League Grand Final and being Jackson Hastings’ house mate.
The 23-year-old Australian may be easy to spot in plain clothes if you’ve heard of Carré. He’ll be repping that most of the time and he’s a self-proclaimed over-thinker.
From cookies and cream ice cream to bottled water, these are Joey Lussick’s 10 Essentials.
Carré
Is this the coolest brand you’ve never heard of? Carré is the Parisian streetwear powerhouse who pride themselves on bringing street style high-end. It’s not just Joey Lussick who wears Carré; Diplo, Justin Bieber, Reggie Bush and Macklemore have all be caught representing the Parisian company.
“Pretty much every t-shirt or hoodie that I own is ‘Carré’,?? said Lussick, and new signing Elliot Kear even noticed, “Joey that’s the fifth Carré jumper you’ve had on this week.??

“That one is simple, I love Malteasers and just a plain bar of Dairy Milk.??
Cinema
One of the problems of going to the cinema when you drink so much water, “I try to hold on and see if it’s a boring part and then I literally leg it – I buy two bottles of water every time I go to the cinema.??
“The last time I went to the cinema, I watched ’21 Bridges’. I love that actor, the Black Panther Guy – Chadwick Boseman.

Ice Cream
If you type into Google ‘how many different flavours of ice cream are there’, the answer will come up with 1000 different flavours. We didn’t go through every flavour of ice cream, but Joey did pick his favourite two.
“Cookies and Cream is my favourite, Connoisseur’s is pretty hard to beat, Ben and Jerry’s has definitely got to be my number two but then I also love a Salted Caramel and Pretzel ice cream.??
Car
“My first car was a 2013 Grey Toyota Corolla.?? These days it seems you cannot get about without a car – there is public transport – but why use that when you can do it yourself?
“I didn’t have a car for two days over here and I was stuck at home losing my mind. I called an Uber for the first time in my life the other day and I was losing my head - I didn’t know what I was doing.??
Family
“I know when people say when they turn 18 you can’t wait to get away from the family. But we all live under one roof, there’s about ten or 11 of us and it’s a mad house.
“We hate each other but we can’t live without each other.??

Who can live without their phone? Nowadays everything is at the touch of a button, it makes life so simple, doesn’t it?
“I’m on it 24/7. I’m on Instagram, contacting my family, we get our training schedules sent to us, emails, and nowadays everyone pays for everything online – I’d be lost without it.??
Bottled Water
Experts say you need to drink 2.5 litres of water per day because it keeps you hydrated. Joey says he needs to drink water all the time, well because, “I feel like if I haven’t had a drink of water in two minutes, I’ll start losing my s***.??
Sauce
“People that know me well, they know I have sauce with almost every meal.
“Tomato, barbecue, aioli or mayonnaise, it drives Jackson [Hastings] absolutely bananas every time we have dinner.
“Jacko actually gets angry at me – I don’t why, I’ve just got this obsession with sauce.??
The Beach
It’s hard to find a comparison of beaches in England to beaches in Australia, but we’re only a short flight away from the south of Spain. Joey spent his younger years living by the beach: “It’s not even the fact of wanting to go, it’s just knowing that it’s there – it keeps me sane.??
