Wolves nil Champs

The Wire bounced back from their opening-round defeat to Wigan with a 19-0 win over champions St Helens.
Warrington took the challenge to Saints from the offset, and their ability to keep the ball moving after the initial contact provided them with plenty of opportunities to break the Saints line.
It took 20 minutes for Stefan Ratchford to record the first points of the game with a penalty.

Daryl Clark added to Ratchford’s kick when he darted over from dummy half after half an hour to make the score 6-0.
Ratchford then caused further problems for Saints’ line, putting up a high ball that was recovered and eventually finished by Tom Lineham in the corner.

Saints came close a couple of times in the second half when Jonny Lomax was held up over the line and Naiqama was denied by Ratchford in the corner, but they couldn’t break down a solid Wolves defence.
Josh Charnley scored the only try of the second half, finishing nice hands in the corner to make the score 17-0.
