PDRL returns to Magic

Dacia Magic Weekend, Super League’s Bank Holiday Festival, returns to St. James’ Park in Newcastle on 23 & 24 May, and Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) will be back by popular demand!

PDRL fixtures are made up of two nine-a-side teams, consisting of seven players with a physical disability and two able-bodied players who do not have physical disabilities. Physical Disability Rugby League is a running format of the sport which involves both full contact and touch tackle options, for all players who have physical disabilities.

Last year, Leeds Rhinos took on Warrington Wolves PDRL at Anfield, where they received a standing ovation from the 30,000+ fans. So, this year the current World Club PDRL Champions, Warrington Wolves, have challenged the Wigan Warriors PDRL team to a clash.

The Warrington Wolves PDRL team, which includes comedian, writer and broadcaster Adam Hills, starred in the award-winning Channel 4 documentary, Take His Legs. The hour-long feature followed their journey from their inaugural match, to becoming World Champions when they beat NRL dominants, South Sydney Rabbitohs, in Redfern, Australia.

The two sides will be doubling the stakes in the Wolves versus Warriors rivalry as they go head-to-head during half-time of game three (Trinity v Rovers) on Sunday 24 May, kicking off at approximately 5:45PM.
