Round seven predictions

Oli Lathrope and Warren Holmes give their Betfred Super League round seven predictions.

Hull FC vs Warrington Wolves

OL: These two teams started the season with confidence but have since fallen off the pace, despite both winning last week. It is difficult to tell when either side will perform to their best. Warrington hammered FC at the KCOM Stadium last year, but I think there is a different result this season.

Prediction: Hull FC by four points.

WH: A tough game to call with both teams struggling for consistency. Warrington have not won away since July 2019, and that run will not end in round seven. FC will have to improve on their last home outing which saw Catalans fight back to claim the two points.

Prediction: Hull FC by eight points.

Salford Red Devils vs Wigan Warriors

OL: Much of the pre-match build up will be around the return of Jackson Hastings to the AJ Bell Stadium. Hastings was loved during his time at Salford, but he could come back to haunt them on Friday night.

Prediction: Wigan by eight points.

WH: Salford Red Devils have struggled in Super League; the loss of Jackson Hastings was always going to impact the team, but they’ve only managed one win in six. He’ll return to the club with his in-form Warriors, and they’ll be too strong for Ian Watson’s men.

Prediction: Wigan to win by 10 points.

Catalans Dragons vs Leeds Rhinos

OL: This match does go ahead but will be played behind closed doors due to Coronavirus. That does change the dynamic as the Dragons will not have their vociferous home support behind them. They are still slight favourites for me.

Prediction: Catalans Dragons by six points.

WH: The battle of the two in-form teams, both have only lost one game this season. Could this be the 2020 Super League Grand Final in October? Catalans will be without Sam Tomkins; he’s been banned for two games.

Prediction: Catalans Dragons to win by four points.

Castleford Tigers vs St Helens

OL: This is a massive opportunity for Castleford. Saints have yet to fire in 2020, and the Tigers will fancy their chances of turning the defending champions over. Danny Richardson will hope he can be the man to inspire them.

Prediction: Castleford by three points.

WH: Castleford Tigers could not escape the Halliwell Jones with two points. In a closely fought game Cas lost out to a Blake Austin drop goal. Saints lost their second game of the season and their first home loss since 2018.

Prediction:  St Helens by four points.
