The fans pick on Sky Sports Retro

Sky Sports have put the power in fans hands this week as they opened up a vote to decide which game fans wanted to watch this Friday (5 June).

From a shortlist of four choices, over 5,000 votes were cast and the winner was picked...Fans will be able to watch a game from the first year of Super League this Friday with Broncos v Saints on Sky Sports Arena (8pm).

The choices were;

London Broncos v St Helens (1996): A game where London pushed St Helens all the way, but a late try from Apollo Perelini sealed the win for Saints.

Leeds Rhinos v Wigan Warriors (2003: With a place at Old Trafford up for grabs, this was a nail-biter of a game that went right to the wire.

Halifax Blue Sox v Bradford Bulls (1997): Bulls ran in an unanswered 30 points to keep up a winning run that would see them take the Super League title that year.

Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves (2006): Warrington claimed their first-ever Super League play-off win thanks to a last minute Lee Briers drop goal.

And there is more retro action for fans to enjoy this week as SL Rewind continues through Super League Facebook & YouTube channels with a fairytale play-off victory for Salford Red Devils over Wigan Warriors in 2019 as the Red Devils reached their first ever Grand Final. The full game will be shown "as live" from 8pm on Thursday night (4th June).
