Covid-19 Testing Update: August 14

As announced on Tuesday night, there have been a number of positive tests from the weekly testing of Betfred Super League players and supporting staff.

All these positive tests have been from a single club – Hull FC, whose fixture against Castleford Tigers has therefore been postponed.

In addition, the Salford Red Devils versus Catalans Dragons fixture was postponed, following track and trace analysis of Salford’s fixture against Hull FC last Sunday.

The results from the Salford club from weekly testing, as with the other nine clubs, were 100% negative.

All players and relevant support staff from the Hull FC and Salford Red Devils clubs, barring those Hull FC players and staff members who have already tested positive, had additional tests today (Friday), with results due by tomorrow (Saturday).

The full weekly breakdown of results will be provided when those results have been received.

Testing Information

Screen4 were selected as the preferred testing partner for Betfred Super League clubs. Players and officials from each club, along with match officials and other key matchday staff, will undergo weekly antigen testing.

Super League and the RFL will provide a central weekly update on COVID-19 tests carried out and the breakdown of results.

For the purpose of medical privacy, details of specific Clubs or individuals will not be provided as part of this update, unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

Additional Guidance:

·  Accuracy of testing provided is not 100% accurate but is in line with Government guidelines and NHS standards.

·  Clubs cover the costs of their testing.

·  Every player or member of staff who attends the training ground, prior to entering the site, must complete a screening protocol to detect any  symptoms in a manner devised by the Club Doctor.

·  Players and staff will also be required to complete a daily medical questionnaire submitted before arrival at the training ground on training days. If this is not submitted before arrival, access to the training ground will be denied.
