Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation aid Large-Scale Vaccination Deployment

The Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are proud to announce that they have formulated plans to aid community vaccination in the Wakefield District.

Over the past week, the foundation has been inundated with requests of support, with a massive 73 volunteers agreeing to take part in the first five weeks.

Working with NHS Spectrum Community Health CIC’s Navigation Walk vaccination centre, volunteers will be supporting the programme by participating in non-clinical roles, helping NHS staff by providing a friendly and reassuring face for patients receiving their vaccine.

People in the nationally agreed priority groups who live up to 30 to 45-minute drive from the vaccination centres are receiving an invitation letter from the NHS national booking service.

The centre is just one of 33 sites recently opened, as the government ramps-up large-scale vaccination throughout the UK.

Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Craig Shepherd is proud to be able to deliver the national vaccine programme and hopes it can be a catalyst for some return of normality.

“The prolonged pandemic is causing further damage to the physical and emotional health of residents within our communities,?? Shepherd explained.

“Anything we can do to support a return to normality is time well spent, whether it be to get children back to school, valuable projects back up and running in communities or even to see fans back in sports stadiums.

"Like many third sector organisations, we stood up to the challenge in the beginning, the middle and hopefully, now, at the end.??

Dr. Linda Harris, Chief Executive of Spectrum Community Health CIC and Medical Director for the Vaccination Centre, followed.

“It’s absolutely fantastic the way we have been supported by the people of Wakefield and the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation.

“The Foundation came forward and offered their assistance which has been invaluable in this first week’s roll-out of vaccinations.

“Patients visiting our Navigation Walk Centre have been so pleased with how they’ve been looked after – a credit to everyone involved.??

The Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation are looking forward to supporting the Spectrum’s vaccination centre over several weeks to ensure the vaccine roll-out plan goes as smoothly as possible.

They would also like to thank all staff and volunteers for their continued hard work throughout this difficult time.
