Gareth Widdop has been voted May’s Player of the Month following a string of eye-catching performances from the Warrington Wolves half-back.
It is the second time Widdop has been included in the Player of the Month shortlist following his remarkable start to the 2021 campaign.
Widdop was voted Betfred Super League’s best player in May by supporters and a four-person panel after his exceptional form between rounds five and eight.
In that time, the Wolves half-back scored five tries – including a hat-trick against Castleford Tigers – set up two more, made five clean breaks, 14 tackle busts, kicked a 40/20 and earned six Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel points.
His dazzling performances at club level have also been rewarded with a recall into Shaun Wane’s England squad ahead of their mid-season clash against the Combined Nations All Stars.
