Dacia and the Super League team up with Paul Sculthorpe to provide kit for local community clubs in Bolton and Warrington
Two community rugby league clubs from Bolton and Warrington were surprised with a special delivery from league legend Paul Sculthorpe MBE this week, after entering an initiative run by the Dacia and Super League to support local clubs impacted by the pandemic.
The deliveries organised by Dacia, who are official partners of Betfred Super League, included over 100 training tops and hoodies made by Rhino Rugby League for players across all age groups to wear during training sessions and match days for the entire season and beyond.

Westhoughton Lions in Bolton and Bank Quay Bulls ARLFC Warrington were the two clubs selected after highlighting a specific need for kit as part of the Super League initiative.
A club spokesperson for Bank Quay Bulls said: “We are a club in the most deprived area of Warrington and really struggle with funding for kit. The area in which we’re based has a high level of poverty so to give these children new kit would be amazing and allow us to use funds for other things like food and helping the community.”
Meanwhile a club official at Westhoughton Lions said: “We were in the process of building our first ever club house but the pandemic stopped construction. Receiving this kit means we can focus on installing catering equipment to feed players and generate additional funds to put back into our facilities and teams.”

Rugby league legend and Director of Rhino Rugby, Paul Sculthorpe started his career with Warrington Wolves in 1997, going on to represent the club 78 times. Speaking about the chance to visit the Bank Quay Bulls and meet some the players that will benefit from the kit, Paul said: “Coming back to the area where it all started for me and seeing kids enjoying their rugby means a lot. I know how difficult the past two years have been for the entire sport which is why I worked with Dacia and the Super League to donate the kit.”
The kit donation is part of Dacia’s commitment to supporting the Rugby League community, alongside being principal partner of both England Rugby League and England Wheelchair Rugby League.
As part of the activity Dacia has invited Westhoughton Lions and Bank Quay Bulls ARLFC to this weekend’s Dacia Magic Weekend, where Warrington Wolves will be taking on Wigan Warriors at St James’ Park on Sunday 5 September.

Speaking about the donation, Dacia Communications Manger Callum Chamberlain said: “As a long-term sponsor of Super League, the RFL and all three England teams, we are passionate about supporting the Rugby League communities however we can. We know how important grassroot clubs are for the sport which is why we will continue to do whatever we can to support them.”
