McMeeken commits to Dragons

Mike McMeeken has signed a two-year contract with Catalans Dragons. The second row has put pen to paper on a contract extension that will secure his future at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2024 season.

McMeeken began his professional career with London Broncos where he made his senior debut in 2012 before joining Castleford Tigers in 2015. His performances whilst at the Tigers were rewarded in 2017 with a place in the Super League Dream Team. He also earned England honours for the first time on the same year - representing England twice - as well as being part of the England squad for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

He joined the Dragons in December 2021 from Castleford and quickly impressed Catalans fans, becoming a key player in Steve McNamara’s squad.

The powerful back rower has made 211 career appearances and scored 50 tries since his debut 10 years ago, scoring 10 tries in 34 games for the Dragons.

On signing an extension with the Dragons, McMeeken eplained: "I am very happy to be staying at the club for a further two seasons. Myself and my family are loving it over here. I feel that the club is going in the right direction and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future brings."

Catalans Dragons head coach, Steve McNamara added: "Mike has been outstanding in every area for us since his arrival. He is a tremendous professional and is a perfect fit for our team and club. We are delighted he has agreed to a new deal and looking forward to seeing him continue his great form."
