Chan departing Dragons at seasons end

Catalans Dragons have confirmed Joe Chan will leave the club at the end of the 2022 season. The young Dragons’ forward, who turned 20 last month, will join the Melbourne Storm in the NRL.

Chan came through the Dragons club development system and made his Betfred Super League debut last year. He has since made 16 appearances for Catalans, scoring 5 tries. He's had an impressive start to the 2022 season too, scoring 4 tries in 7 Super League games.

Joe Chan, who will again follow in the footsteps of his father Alex by playing at the Melbourne Storm, said: "I will always call Catalans Dragons my home and a family of mine. I had an opportunity to play for another elite club. I’ll will continue to do my best for the club and hopefully winning a title by the years end. I’m forever grateful to Bernard Guasch, his family and the club."

Dragons head coach Steve McNamara added: "Whilst being disappointed to see Joe leave we also recognize the opportunity that he has and wish him well. He is a good young man and player and has shown great respect to our club throughout this situation. We look forward to Joe playing very well for the rest of the season and trying to help the club achieve success."
