Fantasy League debrief

Top performers

Hookers led the way in Round 10 of Fantasy League. Brad Dwyer (165K) registered his best score of the season with an 89-point haul on Friday Night, thanks in part to two tries and an assist. Paul McShane (150K) wasn’t far behind either – he scored 85 points after a 47-tackle performance against St Helens.

Luke Yates (170K) put in a giant defensive performance on the way to registering 80 points on the weekend. Yates made 54 tackles – missing just one – and became the third highest total points scorer in 2022.

Elsewhere, Harry Smith (135K) scored an impressive 77 points and looks to be an interesting prospect in the halves if he gets a regular spot whilst Tommy Leuluai is injured. Smith had a great 2021 season in Fantasy but has lacked opportunities in the Warriors side so far this year.

Smith’s teammate Jai Field (75K) continues to be a must-have Fantasy player after racking up another big score (73 points) thanks to his blistering display against the Red Devils.

Fantasy flops

Saints head coach Kristian Woolf made wholesale changes to his squad in Round 10, leaving Fantasy owners frantically changing their squad as several big hitters missed out. Valuable Fantasy players such as Tommy Makinson (120K), Mark Percival (125K) and Jack Welsby (135K) were all absent last week.

Trinity winger Tom Johnstone (100K) had an uncharacteristically quiet game on Saturday. Johnstone managed to score just 7 points after minimal attacking stats - it was a underwhelming performance by Wakefield reflected in most of their players Fantasy totals.

Matt Prior (130K) played just 26 minutes for the Rhinos on Friday Night which led to a disappointing 20-point total. Prior’s points per minute scoring was pretty good, but he didn’t stay on the field long enough to boost his total.

Looking ahead

Wigan, St Helens, Hull KR and Huddersfield all have an important Challenge Cup semi-final coming up after Round 11. Whilst Saints rested players in Round 10, the other three sides may make changes this week.

Keep an eye on the likes of Liam Farrell (170K), John Bateman (170K), Jai Field (75K) and Luke Yates (170K) when their sides 21-man squads are announced.

Elsewhere, David Fifita (170K) is expected to return for Wakefield Trinity this week – he’s a Fantasy League big hitter and is worth considering in your front row if you can afford the premium prop forward.
