Wolves announce departures of six players
24 Aug 2022
Warrington Wolves have confirmed the departures of six first team players at the end of the 2022 campaign.
Captain Jack Hughes, Gareth Widdop, Matt Davis, Robbie Mulhern, Jason Clark and Kyle Amor will all leave the club when their current contracts expire.
Hughes captained the side to Challenge Cup glory in 2019, famously filling in at stand-off for the win over St Helens at Wembley Stadium, and has made 169 appearances for the club since joining in 2016. He has been sidelined for the last four months after undergoing an operation on a shoulder injury but could feature in the club's final three games of the campaign.
Widdop has scored 20 tries in 49 appearances during his three years with the club and won the Ken Kelly Player of the Year accolade following an impressive season in 2021. He has been sidelined in recent weeks with a shoulder injury but could return before the end of the season.
Davis has made 62 appearances across four seasons in the primrose and blue having joined from London Broncos back in 2019. He was a part of the Challenge Cup winning side in the same year.
Mulhern will depart following two seasons at the club, having made 45 appearances during his time with the Wire including 19 starts this season.
It was confirmed in June that Clark will join French side Limoux Grizzlies and is expected to join up with his new teammates for the start of their new season next month. He leaves having made 82 appearances and a Challenge Cup winner in 2019.
Amor joined on loan from St Helens midway through the season and will join Widnes Vikings for the 2023 campaign.
A special presentation will be made to the Wolves departing players at the end of their final home game against Castleford Tigers this Thursday evening in which fans can show their appreciation.
Warrington have expressed their gratitude to their departing players for their efforts during their time with the club and have wished them all the best for their futures in the game.
