Round 22 round-up

The opening game of Round 22 in Betfred Super League saw the Giants play host to the Red Devils in a crucial game for both sides in their pursuit for a spot in the top six. The Giants took an early lead through Jake Bibby but were unable to kick on with the Red Devils in front at the break. A brace from Sam Stone and a 100th Super League try from Ken Sio secured an important win for The Red Devils who propelled themselves into the top six.

The Saints welcomed Hull KR to the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday Night with the Robins looking to rectify the disappointment of their Challenge Cup Final loss. However, Will Peters side were unable to start how they would've liked and found themselves 6-0 down at the break. A 61st minute try proved to be nothing more than a consolation for The Robins as the game finished 28-6 to the home side.

The Warriors continued their pursuit of a top two spot on Friday thanks to a golden point win over Hull FC. The game remained tight across the whole 80 minutes, with the Warriors fighting back from behind to take the game into golden point extra time. It took a Harry Smith drop goal in the 87th minute to secure another important two points for the Warriors.

With both sides struggling at the bottom of the table, a win was crucial for both Trinity and the Tigers in their fight for survival. After a back and forth opening quarter, Cas raced away to a 16-6 lead at half time thanks to late back-to-back tries from Greg Eden. Josh Griffin - who made his second Wakefield debut on Friday Night - got one back for Trinity, but it wasn't enough as Eden scored his third of the day and also his 150th career try to confirm a hugely important win for Danny Ward's Tigers.

Fresh from their Wembley glory, The Leopards were back in action against League Leaders Catalans Dragons on Saturday afternoon. The Leopards started the game well and managed to be 14-12 up at the break thanks to tries from Tom Amone and Ben Nakubuwai. But the Dragons showed their class in the second stanza, quickly turning the tie in their favour to secure a 14-30 victory.

The Rhinos faced off against The Wolves in the final game of Round 22. With the Play-Off race well underway underway, both sides could ill-afford to drop points. The Wolves took the lead after just two minutes through a Matt Duffy try and were able to find themselves 10-6 up at half time. However, The Rhinos fought back to deliver a seventh straight loss for The out of sorts Wolves.
