Rowley named Betfred Coach of the Month

Salford Red Devils Head Coach, Paul Rowley, has been named the Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for March.

Salford ended a 44-year wait to win at St Helens after Deon Cross' late try saw them complete a thrilling comeback victory against the 12-man hosts in Round 4. The Red Devils had last won away at Saints on January 12, 1980.

Just a week prior, Rowley and his side saw off a late comeback from Hull KR to put an end to their winning start to the season. The hosts led by 16-0 before tries from Peta Hiku and Jez Litten piled on the pressure but a Marc Sneyd drop goal nine minutes from time consigned the Robins to their first defeat of the year.

One member of the voting explained their support of Rowley below:

"Although Salford didn't win 100% of their games in March, the quality of the results achieved by Paul Rowley and his team is only heightened in the context of their resources and squad depth compared to some of their peers.

"They continue to punch above their weight. Beating Hull KR and St Helens showed Rowley can tactically outgun some of the best in the league, and while they lost to Wigan Warriors, they were in the driving seat to win before a late turnaround. Rowley continues to get the best out of players such as Ryan Brierley and Marc Sneyd who are vital cogs in their machine."

The voting panel is made up of selected members of the Rugby League media.
