Round Three’s 3-point winners for the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel vote…

We’re into Round Three of the 2019 Betfred Super League and the race for the most prestigious individual honour the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award is hotting up! 

A member of the panel will watch each Betfred Super League game in 2019 and award points to the three outstanding players: 3 points for their chosen stand-out performer, two points for the runner-up, and 1-point for their third ranked player. 

The scores will be made public every week, until Round 22 in mid-July. After that, the poll will be hidden until the Awards Ceremony in October. 

Round Three’s 3-Point winners: 


Wakefield vs Catalans (Danny Brough)

Danny Brough made his 500th career appearance on Thursday, and he led Wakefield Trinity to their first victory of the season. He assisted a James Batchelor try, kicked five out of five goals and produced nine attacking kicks. 

Huddersfield vs Warrington (Blake Austin) 

Betfred’s favourite to win Man of Steel at the start of the season, Blake Austin, picked up his first points of the year, it’s been an impressive start to the season for Austin and Warrington so far. The Wire beat Huddersfield, Austin scored a try and assisted a Josh Charnley try, producing 10 attacking kicks, one led to Ryan Atkins’ try. 

St Helens vs Leeds (Alex Walmsley)

St Helens were delighted to welcome back Alex Walmsley at the start of the year after his back injury, he picked up his first Man of Steel points after his performance against Leeds Rhinos. The big man powered over the line to score two tries. 

Hull KR vs Salford (Robert Lui) 

Salford Red Devils made it three wins out of four with a win against Hull KR, Robert Lui has been a key figure so far during the 2019 campaign and he picked up his first three Man of Steel points. He scored a try and assisted two tries. 

London vs Castleford (Jake Trueman)

The 2018 Super League young player of the year has continued on from last year, he’s helped Castleford to three wins out of three this season. The 20-year-old had already picked up one point previously, and he picked up another three for his performance against London.

Wigan vs Hull FC (Jamie Shaul) 

Jamie Shaul continued his impressive form in 2019, he’d already picked up three Man of Steel points and his performance against 2018 Champions sees him pick up another three. Marc Sneyd scored a golden point drop goal for FC’s first win of the season, Shaul averaged a gain of 10.33m during the game.
