Round 5: Dream Team line-up

Full Back (Stefan Ratchford / Jamie Shaul) 

Stefan Ratchford and Jamie Shaul are tied on seven points with both picking up two 3-points and one 1-point, they’re joint second on the Man of Steel leader board. Ratchford has been on form so far this season in a Warrington side that have only lost one game this season, he’s scored 2 tries, made 1 assist and 428 metres. 

Shaul has been one of the turning points in FC’s season, they broke their 13-game losing streak and have since gone three games unbeaten, Shaul has scored 1 try, made an assist and 496 metres. 

Winger (Josh Charnley & Tom Johnstone) 

Josh Charnley and Tom Johnstone are on the same amount of Man of Steel points (3), they have been awarded them with one 2-points and one 1-point game. Charnley has scored four tries so far this season, while Johnstone has scored 6 (Joint Most in Super League), scoring a hat-trick against Leeds. 

Centre (Bill Tupou & Jake Bibby) 

Bill Tupou is the centre that has been awarded the most points by the Man of Steel panellists, he’s tied in ninth place, scoring four points with one 3-point game and one 1-point game. The centre has scored 1 try and made 2 assists while making 819 metres (Most in Super League) that’s averaging 163.8 metres a game. 

Jake Bibby is the next highest centre having scored 3-points in his game against Catalans Dragons, Salford won 46-0 and Bibby scored two tries, made two assists and 162 metres. 

Stand-Off (Jake Trueman)

Last year’s Super League Young Player of the Season, Jake Trueman, currently has four Man of Steel points and has been instrumental in Castleford’s start to the season, they have only lost one game out of five. He’s scored 1 try and assisted two, whilst making 30 attacking kicks. 

Scrum-Half (Marc Sneyd) 

Marc Sneyd is one of the main reasons for FC's turnaround from their dismal losing streak, his golden point winning drop goal kickstarted their season and they have gone three games unbeaten. He’s scored a try and assisted six tries, whilst making 33 attacking kicks. 

Props (Liam Watts & Eddie Battye) 

Both Liam Watts and Eddie Battye are in the top 10 of the Man of Steel standings, Watts is highest with six points, while Eddie Battye is one place below with five points. Watts has made an impressive 176 tackles and 630 metres whilst scoring two tries. Battye has scored 3 tries, making 198 tackles and 571 metres. 

Hooker (James Roby)

Before Round 5, James Roby had only dropped one point in the hunt for Man of Steel, he was rested in their Round 5 fixture so didn’t pick up any points. He’s currently in pole position to win Man of Steel after picking up 11 points. This season, he’s made 190 tackles and 378 metres, whilst scoring 3 tries and assisting two tries.

Second Row (Kenny Edwards & Matty Ashurst/Sika Manu) 

Catalans Dragons have had an inconsistent start to the season, they beat Warrington Wolves in Perpignan and then lost to Salford 46-0 a week later. Edwards has scored 1 try, made 1 assist and 136 tackles. Matty Ashurst & Sika Manu have both scored two Man of Steel points, so are fighting for the 2nd second row place after Round 5.

Loose Forward (Joe Westerman) 

Joe Westerman has currently scored four tries, made 119 tackles and 281 metres. So far, he’s picked up three Man of Steel points, they came against Huddersfield Giants in Round 4 on his 300th career appearance.
