Leroy Cudjoe announces his retirement

Huddersfield Giants have announced that club legend Leroy Cudjoe will hang up his boots at the end of the 2025 season, marking the end of an 18-year long career.

One of the greatest Huddersfield players of the modern era, Leroy took Super League by storm when he made his debut back in 2008 vs Leeds Rhinos and has gone on to be one of the club's best backs in history.

Going on to score over 130 tries in a whopping 406 career appearances to date, Leroy's commitment and dedication to the Giants cannot be underestimated, and he will go down as truly a modern-day legend alongside Michael Lawrence and Jermaine McGillvary.

His greatest moment has to go down as the full-length try against Warrington Wolves, but there are plenty of Cudjoe memories throughout his 18-year tenure as a Giant. This includes his perfect partnership with Jermaine McGillvary down the right-hand side, which proved one of the most formidable in Super League history.

The strike centre helped the club to win the League Leaders Shield in 2013, a major piece of silverware and he also came seconds away to securing a Challenge Cup in 2022.

In his later years, he transitioned up the field into the back row and loose forward and reinvented himself as a tough, uncompromising middle, with an incredible stat of playing everywhere on the field except at prop; however that could all change in his final two games.

Leroy will remain a Giant, as he transitions into the clubs Transition Pathway Manager and Coach, on a three-year deal, showing the clubs commitment to one of their greats.

He has already been working as an assistant coach with the club's Academy for many years, so this role will be familiar for the Giant stalwart, and means an easy transition from playing to coaching, and looking after Academy players transition into the First Team and Reserves.

The Huddersfield Giants, and the whole town of Huddersfield would like to thank Leroy for his outstanding contribution to his hometown club throughout his playing career, and also the countless hours of coaching he has also put in during his time with the Academy.

Giants fans will have their chance to pay tribute to Leroy Cudjoe when they host Salford Red Devilso on Sunday at the Accu Stadium. Leroy will take to the field at home for the final ever time.

Huddersfield are calling on their town to come and support one of their true greats in big numbers, as they prepare for Leroy's final farewell.
