2025 Betfred Wheelchair Super League Awards

Halifax Panthers and London Roosters, who will clash in Sunday’s Betfred Wheelchair Super League Grand Final in Manchester, are already guaranteed to share out the end of season awards.

The Panthers, who finished top of the table at the end of the regular season and have already won the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup, have Jack Brown and Rob Hawkins shortlisted for the Wheels of Steel award which will be presented to the outstanding player of the season at Rugby League’s Awards Night on Tuesday October 7.

The shortlist is completed by Joe Coyd, the England stalwart who has led the Roosters to second in the table and to their first Challenge Cup Final.

Hawkins currently holds the International Rugby League’s Wheelchair Golden Boot having been judged the outstanding player in the world in 2024, while Brown was the first winner of that award in 2019.

Coyd’s Roosters team-mate Lewis King was the first winner of the Wheels of Steel in 2023, succeeded by Josh Butler of Leeds Rhinos last year.

Coyd’s elder brother Tom has already been named as the Betfred Wheelchair Super League Coach of the Year in recognition of his contribution to the Roosters’ best-ever campaign, while the impressive impact made by 20-year-old Finlay O’Neill in his first full season with the Panthers has earned him the Young Player of the Year Award – as well as a place in the England squad for the forthcoming Ashes tour of Australia.

Tom Coyd, who was awarded the MBE as the coach of England’s World Cup winning team in 2022, and Finlay O’Neill will receive their awards with the Wheels of Steel winner on October 7.

The award winners and shortlisted players have been decided by the RFL’s Wheelchair Management Committee, who have also selected a 2025 Betfred Wheelchair Super League Dream Team which will be unveiled on Friday.

The Grand Final kicks off at 530pm on Sunday at the National Basketball Performance Centre at Belle Vue, Manchester, with tickets still available for £11 here – and live coverage on Sky Sports.
