Storton extends with Trinity

Matty Storton has agreed a brand new four-year deal with Wakefield Trinity keeping him at the club until the end of the 2029 season.

One of the biggest hits of the 2025 recruitment class, Storton has impressed massively during his one season kicking off last year with a string of top class performances.

An injury derailed what was shaping up to be a huge breakout season for the Keighley born forward but with 15 games in the Red, White and Blue, Trinity fans are excited about what the next few years have in store for Storton.

At 26-years old, Storton has appeared in over 100 Super League games already having spent five seasons with Hull KR.

He joined the Robins in 2020 after initially coming through the Bradford Bulls Academy setup.

Matty Storton said: “Wakefield Trinity is a great club, from the fans to the coaching staff and to Matt and his family. It’s the best decision I ever made joining the club. We’ve signed some really good players, and we have a big core of players along with myself that are now signed up long term. The more that we stay together both on and off the field, we’ll just continue to improve as a group and hopefully we can strive for some silverware this season.”

Trinity Head Coach, Daryl Powell also said: “I’m delighted that Matty has agreed to an extension to his contract. He’s been a pleasure to have around and his form last year was some of the best I’ve seen him have in his career. I’m looking forward to seeing him grow and drive his standards even further to become one of the premier back rowers in Super League.”

Wakefield’s Director of Rugby, Ste Mills said: “We are delighted to tie Matty down to a long term deal, he started last season like a house on fire & we can all see what a player he can become with us. Being able to play in the second row or the middle gives us some versatility, we are looking forward to watching him grow in the coming years.”
