Round 3 Round Up

Round 3 kicked off with Wigan Warriors producing one of the standout performances of the weekend.

The Warriors blew Leigh Leopards away in a brutal Battle of the Borough, scoring 54 unanswered points against their neighbours.

Matt Peet’s men scored four converted first half tries through Adam Keighran, Bevan French, Jai Field and Harry Smith as the home side took a commanding 24-0 lead in at the interval.

And the hosts continued to rack up the points in the second stanza as scores from Jai Field, Zach Eckersley, Junior Nsemba, Harry Smith and Tom Forber saw a relentless Wigan finish the match with nine converted tries (54-0).

Castleford Tigers finally got off the mark in Round 3 with a convincing win in a West Yorkshire Derby against Huddersfield Giants.

Three tries in thirty minutes saw the Tigers cruising as Liam Hood, Darnell McIntosh and George Lawler all crossed the whitewash, before Jacob Gagai replied right before the break for the visitors.

Tom Weaver then came up with two crucial second half tries, either side of George Flanagan's effort, and Ashton Golding got in on the action scoring against his former club.

Whilst a lethal Castleford claimed their first win under head coach Ryan Carr, Huddersfield remain winless in Super League 2026 (34-8).

York Knights shocked Super League once again on Friday Night as they defeated Hull FC away from home, just two weeks after beating the Black & Whites’ cross-city rivals and current champions, Hull KR.

The Knights rose above all expectations to secure another two points, and it was Danny Richardson’s drop goal that proved to be the deciding factor.

David Nofoaluma was at the double on his debut, and Ben Jones-Bishop's try gave the Knights at 16-10 lead, before Richardson later added the one-pointer.

Davy Litten and Harvey Barron were the scorers for the Black & Whites, as well as Lewis Martin – who’s late try for Hull set up a nervy finish.

York, however, held out to go two from three (16-17).

On Saturday, Warrington Wolves made it two wins from two when they welcomed Wakefield Trinity to town.

The Wolves always led in their Round 3 encounter and appear to have vastly improved on last year’s performances.

A late burst in the first forty saw meant new signings Toafofoa Sipley and Albert Hopoate were able to touch down and give their side a 14-2 advantage at half-time.

Trinity did attempt a fightback in the second half as Jake Trueman created tries for Max Jowitt and Jayden Myers to reduce the deficit.

The Wolves remained too strong though and Josh Smith put daylight between the two teams with his try.

Then, despite a late effort from Oli Pratt, Marc Sneyd did what he does best and calmly slotted over a drop goal to ensure victory.

Toby King put icing on the cake with his try as Wakefield went home empty-handed and Warrington join Wigan as the only two unbeaten sides so far (27-16).

St Helens ran in six tries against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan, with Daryl Clark bagging a brace on his 350th Super League appearance.

Kyle Feldt also went over for two, with Jacob Host and Shane Wright the other Saints scorers on this evening.

Only Charlie Staines managed to pull a try back for Catalans, who will be extremely disappointed with their display in the south of France (4-36).

The Betfred Super League headed to Las Vegas and Leeds Rhinos put on a spectacular showing in Sin City, as they thrashed Hull KR, 6-58.

A dominant Rhinos produced a stunning ten-try display at the Allegiant Stadium, as Maika Sivo stole the show with four fantastic tries to his name.

Viva Las Vegas – or Sivo Las Vegas?

Brodie Croft and Cooper Jenkins were at the double whilst Keenan Palasia and Ryan Hall were also on the scoresheet as the Rhinos represented Super League on a global stage.

It was the perfect performance from Brad Arthur’s men, who were simply unplayable on the night as they put the recently crowned World Champions to the sword.

Less than two weeks ago, the Robins had beaten Brisbane Broncos to win the World Club Challenge but couldn't live with Leeds' intensity on the night.

As a rampant Rhinos made a massive statement and early season warning under the lights of Las Vegas, Hull KR are still left searching for their first win of the Super League season, and sit bottom of the pile following Round 3.

Bradford Bulls and Toulouse Olympique clashed at Bartercard Odsal, and this fixture would conclude the Round 3 action.

Ethan Ryan and his hat-trick heroics were the difference on Sunday afternoon, as the Bulls ensured a win over the second French team in the competition, in as many weeks (18-6).
