Wakefield Trinity have confirmed the statement signing of dual-code international, former Dally M Medal Winner and former NRL Champion, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
The monumental deal brings one of the most recognisable names to the DIY Kitchens Stadium and the Betfred Super League for the start of the 2027 season on a two-year deal.
A legend in the NRL, Tuivasa-Sheck has amassed over 230 appearances in the Australian top flight winning the NRL Grand Final with the Sydney Roosters in 2013.
The 32-year old has just about done it all since his NRL debut in 2012 having played internationally for both New Zealand and Samoa in Rugby League and the famous All Blacks in the 15-a-side code.
After beginning his career with Sydney where he picked up Dally M Winger of the Year and Fullback of the Year honours a move to the New Zealand Warriors saw him catapult to the best in the game picking up the Dally M Medal in 2018 as well as the Golden Boot in 2019 for his performances in a Kiwi jersey.
Rugby Union came calling in 2022 as RTS joined the Blues with one eye on a Rugby Union World Cup with New Zealand. He played three games internationally, making his debut off the bench against Ireland before he faced Australia and starting the game in 2022 against Japan.
Following a return to Rugby League and the Warriors in 2024, Tuivasa-Sheck chose to represent the country of his birth and switch his international allegiances to Samoa. The Apia born star lined up alongside current Trinity player Jazz Tevaga in Samoa’s tour of England in 2024 and the 2025 Pacific Championships.
Upon signing his contract, Tuivasa-Sheck said: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to join Wakefield and compete in the Super League. My family & I are really excited for the move and new challenge. From the conversations I’ve had, I can see the club is heading in a really positive direction and I’m looking forward to being part of that journey.”
Wakefield Trinity Head Coach, Daryl Powell, said: “We are delighted to bring Roger to Wakefield. We are obviously an ambitious Club and signing Roger shows that once again. He’s a super high-quality signing for both the super league competition and of course for Wakefield Trinity and we look forward to welcoming him into our family and helping us achieve our ambitions in the near future.”
Ste Mills, Trinity’s Director of Rugby, said: “Bringing someone like Roger to Wakefield is a huge shift in the landscape of Super League. We believe he is one of the final pieces to our puzzle and someone of his calibre and experience will only help propel the club towards silverware. We’ve worked tirelessly since the opportunity arose and we can not be happier to have Roger as part of the club for the next couple of seasons.”
