Round 24 Round Up

The Final Charge rolled on in Round 24, with another significant weekend of results across the Betfred Super League as the race for silverware, Play-Off places and final league positions continued to intensify.

On Friday Night, Wigan Warriors maintained their superb form with a 26-12 victory over Wakefield Trinity at The Brick Community Stadium.

The Warriors made a fast start and never looked back, building a 20-point half-time lead and producing sensational solo scores from Bevan French and Jai Field, as well as a Liam Marshall double.

Wakefield responded after the break through Corey Hall and Ky Rodwell, but Matt Peet's side had already done enough to secure a record 12th consecutive Super League victory and keep the pressure firmly on at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Leigh Leopards came up with another outstanding performance as they ran in ten tries during a remarkable 62-10 win over Bradford Bulls.

Adrian Lam's side were made to work in the early stages before pulling away emphatically after the interval.

Half-back duo Adam Cook and Lachlan Lam crossed twice, as did Innes Senior, whilst Robbie Mulhern, Louis Brogan, Umyla Hanley and Joe Ofahengaue also got their names on the scoresheet.

This convincing victory further strengthened the Leopards' position inside the top six as they continue an impressive Final Charge so far.

Saturday afternoon began with St Helens keeping their Play-Off hopes alive thanks to a 36-12 success against Castleford Tigers. Saints raced into a commanding 30-0 half-time lead, with Jack Welsby, Shane Wright, Jacob Douglas, Tom Humphreys and Tristan Sailor all crossing before the break.

Eamon O’Carroll’s side were also reduced to 12-men after Jackson Hastings was shown a red card for punching Tyler Dupree.

But the Red V’s Nene Macdonald added another after the restart and restricted the Tigers to just two tries (Louis Senior and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga'e) as the Saints recorded back-to-back victories and continued to apply pressure to the likes of Hull KR above them in the race for the top six.

Hull KR's hopes of a top four finish suffered a setback as they were beaten 12-32 by Toulouse Olympique at Sewell Group Craven Park on Saturday. Just days after their rearranged Round 2 defeat to the Wolves, the Robins were stunned by a Toulouse side who produced one of the results of the season.

The French outfit ran in six tries, including two from Romeo Tropis, to claim a memorable victory and leave Willie Peters' men in desperate need of a response when they travel to face a relentless Warriors outfit next Thursday.

In Perpignan, Hull FC snatched a thrilling 27-26 victory over Catalans Dragons with Jake Arthur's late drop goal.

Dragons head coach John Cartwright came up against his former side, but it was the Black & Whites who came away with spoils which concluded Saturday's action.

There was a double-header on Sunday which had huge implications on The Final Charge...

Leeds Rhinos responded emphatically to the Warriors' result on Friday by returning to the top of the table with a stunning 16-66 victory over York Knights.

Riley Lumb claimed a hat-trick as the Rhinos ran in 12 tries in a ruthless attacking display, with Chris Hankinson scoring twice, alongside seven other Rhinos scorers - Kallum Watkins, Mikolaj Oledzki, Lachie Miller,  Matt Lodge, Ryan Hall, Brodie Croft and Ash Handley.

The win lifts Leeds above Wigan on points difference and ensured the race for the League Leaders' Shield remains wide open heading into the final three weeks of the regular season.

Across the Pennines, Warrington Wolves booked their place in the 2026 Play-Offs and their strengthened their push for a top-two finish with a 34-24 victory over Huddersfield Giants at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

A points fest unfolded as the Wolves recovered from an early deficit to lead 22-4 at the break, with tries from Danny Walker, James Bentley, Sam Powell and George Williams laying the platform for a fifth consecutive Super League win.

The Final Charge is certainly gathering its pace...
