Jowitt to join the Knights in 2027

York Knights have clinched the signature of full-back Max Jowitt for two years from 2027.

The 29 year-old spent 12 years at Wakefield Trinity, making more than 180 appearances since 2014.

Jowitt holds the record for most points scored in a single season, when he notched up 500 as Wakefield stormed to promotion from the Championship in 2024.

An accomplished goal kicker, that tally included 198 successful attempts.

By joining the Knights, he links up again with head coach, Mark Applegarth, who was the Head of Youth at Wakefield as Jowitt was starting his career.

He also played for Applegarth when he was coach of Wakefield in Super League in 2023, and the Knights’ boss is delighted to link up with him again.

Applegarth said: “I’m really glad we've got Max joining us.

“He’s a proven Super League player with nearly 200 games under his belt and he’ll add a different dimension to us in attack.

“He’s one of the best passers of the ball in the league in that second phase of attack.

“He’s a lovely person as well. I’m really looking forward to working with him again. He’s a player I know well and I think he’ll help push us as a team onto that next level.”

Jowitt added: "I’m buzzing for the opportunity to have a fresh start at a club like York, especially with the direction that the club is heading in."
