Super League set to deliver a record attendance in its 30th year

With yet more 'sold-out' signs going up, Betfred Super League will break new ground by smashing its regular round season attendance record.

The top-of-the-table clash between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors at AMT Headingley tonight is expected to deliver a capacity crowd of 19,698 as the thrilling race for the League Leaders' Shield nears its crescendo. Fans flocking to that hugely-anticipated contest has helped the competition break a record that has stood for 14 years.

Super League's record regular round attendance of 1,808,405 spectators was set in 2012 when, as now, it was a 14-club and 27 Round competition. But supporters' appetite to witness the most high-octane sport in the UK has seen them surpass that this year and at an even quicker pace. Given this is only Round 26, Super League has sailed past its previous best with a full round to spare.

A crowd of 6,786 saw Bradford Bulls end their seven-game losing run with Thursday's 32-22 victory over Castleford Tigers at Bartercard Odsal. And on Friday, the Toulouse v Hull FC (7,360), Hull KR v Huddersfield Giants (11,541) and Leigh Leopards v St Helens (9,589) fixtures all contributed to edging towards eclipsing the historic figure.

Now, with the Final Charge in full swing, the battle for final play-offs positions heating up and the Grand Final in sight, Super League will bid to reach a season attendance aggregate of TWO MILLION for the first time in its history.

With Wakefield Trinity hosting Warrington Wolves this afternoon, hoping to get the win that could still see them eventually wrestle third spot from their opponents, and Catalans Dragons staging their final home game of the year against York Knights, supporters continue to embrace the action.

The highest-attended single round this campaign was Rivals Round in July when an incredible 83,615 fans turned out across the seven fixtures - the sixth biggest aggregate attendance in Super League history. In the same month, the 2026 season also recorded its best-ever Magic WKND attendance of 82,925 at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium and Castres’ Stade Pierre-Fabre. 

Champions Hull KR have regularly sold-out Sewell Group Craven Park this season, Wakefield have twice achieved the feat at their DIY Kitchens Stadium while newcomers York have enjoyed the same when welcoming Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos.

St Helens' epic Good Friday showdown with Wigan Warriors was another fixture to sell-out while Warrington Wolves' opener against Saints delivered a 15,000+ capacity crowd.
