Final Round Permutations

The top six is now confirmed, but there is still plenty to play for heading into the final round of the regular season.

Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Wakefield Trinity, Leigh Leopards and Hull KR have all secured their places in the 2026 Betfred Super League Play-Offs as the road to Old Trafford is upon us, but final league positions and home advantage are still yet to be decided.

The Leopards and Robins sealed the final two Play-Off spots in Round 26, and in turn ended St Helens' remarkable ever-present record in the Super League Play-Offs.

For the first time in the competition's history, a seventh-placed Saints will not feature in the post-season action.

The other major headline from the weekend saw the Warriors produce a statement performance against Leeds Rhinos. Their victory at AMT Headingley saw the Warriors leapfrog Leeds into first place and put themselves within touching distance of a third League Leaders' Shield title in just four seasons.

All Eyes on a Frantic Friday...

The League Leaders' Shield will be decided on Friday night, but will it be Wigan or Leeds lifting the coveted trophy?

Leeds host Hull FC knowing victory is essential if they are to have any chance of reclaiming top spot.

However, Brad Arthur’s side must also rely on Catalans Dragons causing an upset against Wigan at The Brick Community Stadium.

After their heavy defeat to the Warriors, their destiny is no longer in their own hands.

With this upcoming scenario, it's hard not to be reminded of the famous 2015 helicopter saga, when the destination of the League Leaders' Shield was only decided after a dramatic final night - again involving both Leeds and Wigan.

With both teams kicking off simultaneously once again, another nervy evening could be in store…

Will it be the Rhinos or the Warriors celebrating at full-time? Who will be crowned League Leaders’ Shield winners in 2026?

Wigan have already secured a home Semi-Final tie, while Leeds are well placed to claim the other.

Elsewhere, the race for a home Eliminator goes down to the wire.

Warrington Wolves have all but sealed third place, paving the way for a home Eliminator against either Leigh Leopards or Hull KR.

The only team still capable of catching them is Wakefield Trinity, who strengthened their grip on fourth spot with an impressive victory over the Wolves in Round 26. Daryl Powell's side are now on course for their highest-ever Super League finish and, perhaps more importantly, a home Play-Off tie at the DIY Kitchens Stadium.

But the Leopards still have hopes of snatching fourth place away from Trinity, setting up a mouth-watering contest between the two sides at the Leigh Sports Village this Friday.

For Wakefield, it is simple - win and fourth place is theirs.

Leigh, meanwhile, must beat Trinity by 28 points or more to climb above them in the table and secure home advantage in the opening week of the Play-Offs.

Could we see an Eliminator rematch?

Should the standings remain unchanged, Wakefield and Leigh will be meeting again just one week later.

Fourth host fifth in the Play-Off Eliminators, meaning Trinity and the Leopards would go head-to-head once more with a place in the next round on the line.

It would also offer Wakefield the perfect opportunity for revenge after Leigh ended their Semi-Final hopes at the same stage last season.

Can the Robins produce a late surge? The current champions confirmed their place in the Play-Offs in Round 26 and will now turn their attention to defending the Super League title.

The Robins are currently sixth, but they could still climb one place higher.

While they already know they will be on the road in the Eliminators, Hull KR could jump above Leigh and finish fifth if they defeat St Helens and the Leopards lose to Wakefield.

At the other end of the table, the battle to avoid finishing bottom goes down to the final round. Hull FC, Huddersfield Giants and Bradford Bulls are all locked on 14 competition points, with the Bulls currently propping up the table on points difference.

While victories for Hull FC and the Giants would put them in a strong position to avoid last place, the Bulls must defeat the Tigers, and hope results elsewhere go their way if they are to climb off the foot of the standings.

York and Castleford, meanwhile, are already safe from collecting the wooden spoon in 2026, sitting two competition points clear of the bottom three.

For Toulouse Olympique, Round 27 presents the chance to seal eighth place, secure their best-ever Super League finish and finish above their French rivals Catalans Dragons.

This would be a remarkable achievement for Sylvain Houles’ men, in their return season to the top flight.

With the final positions still to be determined and the League Leaders’ Shield up for grabs, expect another explosive night of Betfred Super League action as the regular season reaches its conclusion.
