Betfred Super League Young Player of the Year nominations

The shortlist for the 2026 Betfred Super League Young Player of the Year has been confirmed ahead of Rugby League Awards Night in Manchester on Tuesday. 

Harry Robertson (St Helens), Jack Farrimond (Wigan Warriors) and Ewan Irwin (Warrington Wolves) have been nominated. 

The three emerging stars have enjoyed outstanding campaigns and will now compete for one of the competition's big individual honours. 

Robertson, who won the award last season, has continued his rapid development at St Helens, scoring eight tries in 25 Super League appearances and once more proving to be one of the most exciting backs in the competition. 

Wigan half-back Farrimond – who, like Robertson, is aged 20 - impressed with his creativity and composure when stepping in for the injured Bevan French for a large part of the campaign. 

He scored five tries and enjoyed 11 try assists from his 14 appearances but also starred in Warriors’ Betfred Challenge Cup final win, when he claimed the Lance Todd Trophy as player of the match at Wembley. 

Teenage playmaker Irwin is the youngest of the trio at just 18 years old. 

He has enjoyed a breakthrough season having been given his chance by boss Sam Burgess, in which he has scored five tries, provided seven try assists and kicked 61 goals in 17 appearances, establishing himself as one of the league's brightest young talents. 

The Young Player of the Year award recognises the outstanding contribution of players aged 21 and under throughout the Betfred Super League season.
