Wolves to face Trinity in 2026 Betfred Super League Grand Final

The Betfred Super League Grand Final trophy will feature a new name for 2026 as two teams who have never won the title are set to take centre stage at Old Trafford on Saturday 3 October.

Warrington Wolves will face Wakefield Trinity in the Betfred Super League Grand Final following a thrilling weekend of Semi-Final action against Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors.

Warrington booked their place on Friday after a tense encounter with the Rhinos at AMT Headingley Stadium, where Ewan Irwin’s 65th minute penalty ultimately proved the difference.

The sides went into half-time level at 12-12 after James Bentley and Luke Yates crossed for Warrington, before Irwin’s third goal of the evening edged the visitors in front.

On Saturday, Wakefield Trinity continued their remarkable run by securing a spot in their first Super League Grand Final with an incredible victory over league leaders, Wigan.

Trinity held a narrow two-point lead heading into the second half following Max Jowitt’s successful penalty conversion.

Wakefield increased their lead after Tom Johnstone headed over in the corner shortly after Adam Keighran was sent to the sin bin, before Jack Sinfield and Corey Hall crossed in quick succession to make it three tries in seven minutes.

Jowitt added the conversions to put Trinity 18 points clear, before further second-half efforts from Ky Rodwell, Mason Lino and Jowitt completed a stunning 6-33 victory and secured Wakefield’s historic place in the Grand Final.

It will be a doubly special occasion for the Sinfield family with Sir Kevin set to deliver the match ball to his son’s side for the historic occasion. The moment will form the Grand Finale of his 7 in 7 Challenge, in which he will complete an ultra-marathon every day for seven days to support those impacted by Motor Neurone Disease.

The Wolves make their return to Old Trafford having last appeared in the 2018 Grand Final when they fell short to the Warriors at 12-4.

This weekend’s results have set up another historic moment, with a new name guaranteed to be added to the Super League trophy for the second consecutive season after Hull KR lifted it for the first time in 2025.
