Dacia Magic Weekend: Six to Watch

Six players who you should keep an eye on at the 2019 Dacia Magic Weekend.

Saturday

Wakefield Trinity vs Catalans Dragons

It’ll be the battle of the big men, Catalans Dragons’ Sam Kasiano and Julian Bousquet have the potential to steam roll their opponent, but Wakefield’s ‘big boppa’ David Fifita can also do that.

Arguably the man to watch in the opening game of the 2019 Dacia Magic Weekend will be David Fifita. He’s been on fire this year, he’s currently second in the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel standings, he’s committed his future to Trinity and even announced a new clothing range!

Hull FC vs Huddersfield Giants

If any Super League player was marmite, it would be Jake Connor. Some fans love him, some don’t and he's never afraid to get involved in a bit of sledging and fisticuffs.

Last time at Magic he assisted Scott Taylor with a majestic kick that hit the crossbar and bounced into the path of Taylor, who knows whether he meant it or not?

He’s a Liverpool fan so it will be a special occasion for Connor, and he’s playing against his old club…uh-oh!

Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves

Steve Price hailed his player Daryl Clark ‘the best hooker in Super League’. He’s in a Warrington Wolves team filled with superstar’s including NRL signing Blake Austin who has been taking all the plaudits this year.

Clark has been one of Wolves’ most consistent performers over the past couple of seasons, his running display continuously takes Warrington forward and in Wire’s Challenge Cup victory against Wigan he scored a super first-half try.

Sunday

Salford Red Devils vs Hull KR

Jackson Hastings is Salford Red Devils’ superstar, he’s the key cog in their attack and his work rate in defence is undeniable, he’s also been recognised by the Man of Steel panellists and is currently third in the Man of Steel standings.

It will be Jackson Hastings’ first Dacia Magic Weekend after joining Salford Red Devils from the NRL towards the end of last season.

Leeds Rhinos vs London Broncos

According to reports recently in news reports, London Broncos’ full-back Alex Walker is one of the most sought-after players in Super League. His contract with London ends at the end of the year and he’s been one of their hottest prospects this season.

The Scottish international helped London to a dramatic victory at the Emerald Headingley earlier in the season, and the London side will be hoping to spring another surprise on a Leeds Rhinos side in turmoil.

St Helens vs Castleford Tigers

‘Coooote’ rings around the terraces at St Helens, and he’s been one of many star performers for the team that is currently four points clear at the top of the Super League standings.

It’ll be a short journey for Saints fans to travel to Anfield and Coote will also be playing in his first Magic Weekend.
