Learning Disability Super League

The Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League is an incredible programme which allows people with learning disabilities and autism to become Super League stars.

The sport is non-competitive, mixed-gender and tag based, with specially trained facilitators on the field when necessary, supporting participants to get involved and play the game they love.

However, LDSL is so much more than just a game. It’s a place where participants can build up their confidence, learn new skills and most importantly have fun.

Each club is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, providing each player with the opportunity to get involved and be part of the Super League family.

The project is delivered by charitable foundations of the participating clubs, who typically host sessions weekly or fortnightly.

Sharon Woodham Testimonial

‘The Learning Disability Super League has changed Mitch’s life and has enabled him to live his dream. Inclusion and acceptance is what everyone with a learning disability or autism longs for, and the LDSL has given so many people the chance to enjoy the sport for the first time and make new friends. Being part of the Leeds Rhinos LDSL team has given Mitch so much confidence which has benefited him in all aspects of his every day life.

It’s been an amazing year with many once in a lifetime experiences enjoyed, from walking out at Old Trafford for the Grand Final, to working the Super League launch with the likes of Sonny Bill Williams and other rugby icons.

Words can’t describe what the LDSL means to the players and their families, but the faces of all the players speaks a thousand words… inclusion and acceptance at its very best.’
