BWSL: Round 11 Preview

Round 11 of the Betfred Women’s Super League kicks off on Friday and with four clubs leading the chase for the Play-Offs. 

As the race for the League Leaders' Shield intensifies with four rounds remaining, Leeds Rhinos take on Wigan Warriors for the first time in the league season as the two clubs go head-to-head at AMT Headingley on Friday (August, KO 7pm). 

As the Rhinos begin a run of three consecutive home games over the next three rounds, Lois Forsell's side have picked up form since their last home outing against St Helens as they enter this week with three consecutive wins from away games against Warrington, Barrow and Featherstone. Wigan have also turned around their form after a loss to Saints as they head to Leeds on the back of wins over Huddersfield and York. 

St Helens host Featherstone Rovers at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Saturday (KO 12pm). Faye Gaskin got Saints off the mark when the two sides met earlier this season while Erin Stott contributed to their tally having run the length of the field for their second try.

Vicky Whitfield and captain Jodie Cunningham then went over to take the score to 24-0 inside the first 30 minutes with Saints continuing their blistering form throughout to eventually defeat Rovers 58-4.

Warrington Wolves will travel to Craven Park to face Amanda Wilkinson’s Barrow Raiders (Ko 12pm). Their last meeting in May was a close affair with The Wire narrowly defeating their opponents 10-6 and both teams will be eager to win and distance themselves from the bottom of the table. 

Sunday will see York Valkyrie take on Huddersfield Giants (KO 12pm). The Giants are yet to defeat the Valkyrie in any of their previous meetings and suffered a 10-try hammering when they faced one another at Laund Hill in May.
