Round 22 preview

Round 22 sees four of the top six face off, including a huge clash between reigning Champions Wigan and current League Leaders Hull KR.

A win for the top of the table Robins would see them edge ever closer to securing their first ever League Leaders’ Shield.

Thursday 14 August

Warrington Wolves v Catalans Dragons – live on Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

The Wolves slim hopes of making the six have all but disappeared after last weeks loss to Wigan. They face a Catalans side who have lost their last five and are now very much looking ahead to a fresh start in 2026.

Adam Holroyd returns for Warrington with Connor Wrench also available after being sidelined last week under concussion protocols.

Jordy Crowther's season is over after undergoing surgery on an elbow injury.

For Catalans, Nick Cotric and Tevita Pangai Jr are back in the squad and replace Tariq Sims and Léo Darrélatour.

Friday 15 August

Wigan Warriors v Hull KR – live on Sky Sports

Second vs first. A Grand Final repeat. The big one. This clash has all the ingredients to be a classic. A win for Hull KR would move them six points clear of second placed Wigan with a favourable points difference too. A win for Wigan would keep their League Leaders chase alive.

Abbas Miski and Harvey Makin come into the Wigan squad to replace Tom Forber and Junior Nsemba, who has been ruled out after failing a head injury assessment against Warrington last week. Bevan French is again named in the Warriors 21-man squad as he continues his road to recovery.

Willie Peters welcomes Rowan Milnes into his 21-man squad for the first time since joining the club on loan last week. Milnes replaces Michael Mcilorum who is ruled out through injury.

Saturday 16 August

Castleford Tigers v Leeds Rhinos – live on Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

Saturday sees a West Yorkshire derby between two sides who have endured contrasting seasons.

The Rhinos head into Round 22 off the back of an important win against fellow Play-Off hopefuls Leigh.

Head coach Brad Arthur has also confirmed he will be at the Rhinos next year as his side look to push for a top four spot.

Cas have enjoyed just one win in their last seven and sit level on points with eleventh placed Huddersfield.

They will be without the services Jeremiah Simbiken this week after the PNG forward received a one-match suspension following their defeat to Hull KR.

Cooper Jenkins misses out for the Rhinos after suffering an ankle injury at training this week, while co-captain Cameron Smith also remains sidelined through a back injury.

Hull FC v Leigh Leopards – live on Sky Sports

Third placed Leigh travel to sixth placed Hull FC on Saturday evening with a crucial two points on the line.

The Black and Whites were victorious the last time these two sides met, with their other meeting in 2025 ending in a draw following a relentless battle.

Hull FC must win to keep their place in the top six secure for another week, while the Leopards could lose their third placed spot if results don’t go their way this weekend.

John Cartwright welcomes Jordan Lane back into the 21-man squad after recovering from an arm injury. He replaces the injured Ed Chamberlain, who misses out with a rib injury.

Sunday 17 August

St Helens v Huddersfield Giants – live on BBC Two, Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

St Helens have lost just one of their last eight games as they look to keep the pressure on the top three.

They welcome a Giants side who enjoyed a rare win last time out, defeating fellow strugglers Catalans to just their fifth win of the season.

Salford Red Devils v Wakefield Trinity – live on Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

Trinity head to Salford on Sunday looking to bounce back after a home defeat to St Helens last time out.

The result saw Daryl Powell’s side drop out of the top six, just one point behind sixth placed Hull FC.
