2026 Season Preview: Hull KR
6 hrs
Hull KR's 2025 season will be remembered as one of the greatest in the club's history and you've now got to give more than a little respect to this Robins side.
The Hull KR heroes of 2025 completed a clean sweep of all available trophies, becoming just the fifth club in Super League history to win the treble.
This would have been unthinkable a few years ago, but the Robins ensured the Big Four would be no more, and added a brand-new name to the Super League trophy for the first time in 21 years.

Under the guidance of head coach Willie Peters, this team demonstrated consistent excellence throughout the season, finishing with only five losses in 27 games.
The Robins have truly established themselves as both genuine Super League contenders and winners, with a sea of Red and White Army supporters right behind them.
Their frightening fortress, Sewell Group Craven Park, also has everybody sitting up and taking note with its carnival-feel, as well as their array of talent throughout the squad.
Which of course, includes former Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel, magic Mikey Lewis, as well as the likes of a relentless Jez Litten, Dean Hadley and Peta Hiku – three players, along with Lewis to feature in the 2025 Super League Dream Team. And let’s not forget their captain and workhorse Elliot Minchella and speedsters Arthur Mourgue, Joe Burgess, Oliver Gildart and Tom Davies who have the ability to light up the Betfred Super League.
This is a side that has been gradually building - and it's all positivity at present, with their hard work rightly being rewarded. They have also retained the majority of their title-winning squad for the upcoming season.
Hull KR are the team to the beat in 2026, but the question is, can they maintain their success? Will they be embroiled in another neck and neck battle with Wigan Warriors at the top? Can they retain their champions status, or were they simply one-season wonders?
They must look to harness the hunger created by last season’s breakthrough…

Who are the ones to watch?
Mikey Lewis is their main star. He is the heart and soul of Hull KR’s attack – central to creating magic moments and masterfully pulling the strings in the halves.
Week in, week out, Lewis steers the side and shaped some crucial victories last season, with his creativity, kicking game and pace proving extremely problematic his defenders.
There’s a reason he finished 2024 as the Man of Steel and was a runner-up for the award again in 2025…

Arthur Mourgue fitted seamlessly into Hull KR’s backline after joining in early 2025. His ability to make metres and his general attacking threat added another dimension to the Robins’ play and helped unlock defences throughout the season. He will forever be remembered for scoring the try that sealed the Robins’ their first ever League Leaders’ Shield.

Additionally, Jez Litten’s presence on the field makes a monumental impact. Litten’s performances were on fire during 2025; so much that he caught the eye of England and earned a deserved Ashes call-up.
Another one to watch is the prolific Joe Burgess, who ended his own Grand Final hoodoo whilst sealing victory in Hull KR’s first ever win at Old Trafford with two terrific tries. Are we witnessing the best Burgess has been in his career?

The Robins have secured powerhouse prop Tom Amone for the next three years. Amone established himself as one of the best props in Super League during his stint with Leigh Leopards, earning selection in the Super League Dream Team in 2023 and helping Leigh win the Betfred Challenge Cup. He'll have huge physical presence and leadership in Hull KR's pack, making him the perfect replacement for Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
Who is the next generation?
Keep your eyes peeled for rising star Noah Booth who hopes to break into the senior set up more often in 2026.
Booth joined the Robins at the start of 2025 and showed promising signs, scoring seven tries in six appearances in his debut season. He never once looked out of place on the wing when his services were called upon last year!
What are the defining dates?
The Robins have a fantastic February ahead. Albeit it’s a uniquely challenging early schedule, with worldwide showpiece games before they even have a chance to play their first home game!
A mouthwatering clash with Brisbane Broncos in the Betfred World Club Challenge is just around the corner. This blockbuster event sold out in record time, and it is set to be an epic showdown between the two Champions at the MKM Stadium.

Beyond these headline fixtures, the regular Super League season brings pure excitement, with three derbies against their inner-city rivals Hull FC, as well as the first Grand Final rematch against the Warriors in May.
Home is where the heart is. Sewell Group Craven Park is going to be rocking in 2026 – with extended capacity and a electric atmosphere. The Robins' home record was almost impeccable last year - they won 11 out of 13 on home soil. Same again this year?

The Robins and 30 years of Super League:
Hull KR first joined Super League in 2007. They remained in the top flight for a number of years, before experiencing heartbreaking relegation infamously in the 2016 Million Pound Game.
They bounced straight back in 2018 and have since undergone a significant rebuild - transforming from survivors to trophy winners and a force to be reckoned with in Super League.

Most recently, they have featured in the back-to-back Grand Finals, and achieved a historic treble in 2025.
What does the future have in store? Can the Robins add more silverware to their cabinet and enjoy sustained success?
