An agreement has been reached between Catalans Dragons and Sam Tomkins to bring an early end to the contract of the two-time Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel.
Sam Tomkins, who had announced his retirement at the end of the 2023 season, then reversed his decision to extend his career with the Dragons.
After 18 seasons at the highest level, Sam Tomkins has now decided to retire from professional rugby league with immediate effect.
An iconic figure of our sport, he scored 167 tries and 1,218 points in 290 Super League appearances.
Since joining Perpignan, he scored 41 tries and 474 points in 118 games, making him the 3rd highest points scorer in the club’s history and forever securing his place among the Dragons’ legends.
Sam Tomkins said: "Today I am announcing I have retired…for good this time! Thanks to Bernard [Guasch] for this opportunity and all the players, staff and supporters for what has been an amazing seven years full of great memories."
