Final Round Permutations

The Final Charge is going down to the final round, and as we’ve already seen – absolutely anything can happen!

This week, the League Leaders’ Shield winners will be crowned, final league standings will be determined, and sixth place will be decided once and for all.

Let’s take a look at the current league table…

What do we already know?

Following last weekend’s results, Wigan Warriors secured a top two finish and a home Semi-Final, which in turn ended Leeds and Leigh’s race for second place.

The Leopards’ win over Saints also means that Adrian Lam’s men will record their highest ever Super League finish in 2025.

Whether this be third or fourth, we are yet to establish…

This then confirmed that St Helens would finish in fifth position, while the race for sixth spot goes down to the wire...

What could happen in the final round?

Well. Everyone thought Hull KR would have wrapped up their first ever League Leaders’ Shield by now, but Trinity had other ideas in Round 26.

Following the Robins’ shock loss at Wakefield last Saturday, their bid for the Shield has been further delayed and will now go down to the final round.

Hull KR sit two points clear the Warriors heading into Round 27 (42 points) – and with a healthy points difference in their favour.

They host Warrington Wolves on Thursday Night and must beat the Wolves, or avoid a heavy defeat, in order to clinch the Shield ahead of Wigan.

The Warriors have an inferior points difference of 41, meaning any chance of a late upset is highly unlikely, but if Willie Peters’ men want to physically lift the Shield at Sewell Group Craven Park this week, then they will have to come up with a result.

If they were to lose, however, Shield celebrations would have to be put on hold as we wait to see what happens in Wigan’s game with Leeds on Friday.

Will it be party time in East Hull on Thursday Night? Or are there more twists and turns to come?

Both Leigh and Leeds are guaranteed a home Eliminator in the Play-Offs, but who will finish where?

The Leopards can secure third place with a victory over Huddersfield Giants in the final round. Elsewhere, the Rhinos face an in-form Warriors side on the road, which is a huge challenge in itself, but nevertheless, could produce a classic.

Brad Arthur’s men can only move into third if they win and Leigh lose...

Sixth place looks like advantage Wakefield after their shock victory over league leaders Hull KR in the previous round, but in a season of pure unpredictability, nobody can be sure.

That said, if Trinity win at Salford on Friday Night, they are in the Play-Offs regardless of Hull FC’s result on the Thursday.

Hull, however, must beat Catalans Dragons in their final game, and rely on Wakefield to lose against the Red Devils, to make the six.
