Eliminators Round Up
28 Sep 2025
- What did we learn from this weekend's epic Eliminators?
- The Leopards mean business in 2025!
- Never EVER Write Off the Saints!
- Super League's Semi-Finals are confirmed - Warriors v Leopards & Robins v Saints

It was sudden death in the Eliminators this weekend, with two sensational spectacles on show.
Friday night saw an explosive encounter unfold at The Progress with Unity Stadium, as Leigh Leopards delivered arguably their performance of the season to reach a second successive Super League semi-final.
Leigh welcomed Wakefield Trinity in Eliminator 1, a side who were making their first Super League Play-Off appearance since 2012.
In turn, this was also Leigh’s first ever Play-Off game on home soil.
It was an electric atmosphere inside Leopards Den, and the hosts dominated from the beginning as tries from Keanan Brand, Isaac Liu and Josh Charnley put them into a formidable 18-0 lead at the break.

After a mauling in the first forty, Jayden Myers replied in the early stages of the second half to give Trinity a glimmer of hope.
Leigh’s intensity was a level Wakefield simply could not match on the night, however, and a Gareth O'Brien penalty and try from Alec Tuitavake ensured victory (26-10).
Cam Scott's superb solo try was just a consolation for the away team, who have enjoyed a stellar season in their first year back to Super League.
This win sees a Battle of the Borough Semi-Final next Friday Night as Adrian Lam’s men travel to face reigning champions Wigan Warriors next Friday.

On Saturday, St Helens stunned Leeds Rhinos at AMT Headingley Stadium in an unforgettable Eliminator 2.
Showcasing knock out rugby league at its finest, the Red V continued their winning record at Leeds in style as they seek out their first Old Trafford appearance since 2022.
Chris Hankinson and James McDonnell had the hosts 12-6 up, with Jonny Lomax’s score keeping the visitors in reach at half-time.
Jake Connor added a penalty goal at the start of the second half, and the Rhinos were in control for large parts of the game, before Jon Bennison clinched a late try to set up a grandstand finish.
Saints were awarded a penalty on the final play, and what went on to unfold will long live in the Play-Off history books…
Wide to Wright ?

One of the greatest tries you'll ever witness in #SuperLeague Play-Off history ?

Managing the keep the ball alive marvellously, Super League witnessed one of its most frantic finishes with Shane Wright on the end of a dramatic last play.
Channelling the iconic 'Wide to West' moment from 25 years ago, Wright and his teammates sent the travelling fans into ecstasy and straight through to the semi-finals, while simultaneously taking everybody else's breath away.
It wasn't until after the final hooter sounded that Saints finally led in this match (14-16) – a shocking but tremendous turnaround as Leeds’ hearts were well and truly shattered; their semi-final hopes snatched from under them.
Undoubtedly, this is a game and try that will be long be celebrated in rugby league folkore...and as the famous saying goes, Never Write Off the Saints.
Following this result, Paul Wellens’ side will make the trip to East Hull to play league leaders Hull KR in Saturday’s Semi-Final.
