6 hrs
Agnatius Paasi will remain a Saint in 2026, after signing a one-year contract extension.
The powerful Tongan front-rower joined the Saints from NRL side New Zealand Warriors in November 2020 ahead of the 2021 season and has brought plenty of impact to the team.
‘Iggy’ will head into his sixth season in the Red V in 2026, and his time at the Club has seen him earn two Super League winners’ medals, a Challenge Cup, and a World Club Challenge trophy.
To date, Paasi has played 108 times for St.Helens, scoring eight tries for a total of 32 points
Agnatius Paasi spoke about the news to saintsrlfc.com and said: “I’m excited for another year with Saints. This club has given me a lot, and I really appreciate it. I’m buzzing and I’m going to give everything I’ve got to try to win more silverware – we always want more here, so hopefully this next year is a big one.”
Paying tribute to the Club and its staff, ‘Iggy’ shared his thanks for the support shown when he suffered a long-term injury back in 2023, and explained how it drives his desire to get back to his very best.
“I can’t fault the Club at all. The physios, trainers, and all the staff really helped me get back on the field and held me accountable. I’m grateful for that.
“I’m challenging myself to get back to the level I was at in my first two years here, and help the team out as best I can.”
In a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the Saints fans, Paasi added: “I just wanted to say thank you. Hopefully, you continue sticking with us in 2026, and with the team we have, and the coaches, we will give you a year to be proud of.”
