Round 2 Round Up
6 hrs
Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2026 Betfred Super League have been highest attended opening two rounds since 2012 (including a World Club Challenge)!
And Round 2 started with a bang, as Bradford Bulls made a strong statement on home soil, beating Catalans Dragons, 28-10.
Super League returned to Bartercard Odsal for the first time in 12 years, with Bullmania in full swing, and a crowd of almost 10,000 spectators present to cheer on the Bulls.

It was a night to remember for Kurt Haggerty’s men, as the hosts capitalised early through Andy Ackers.
Waqa Blake then crossed the whitewash, before Caleb Aekins added another and Rowan Milnes converted three penalty goals to give Bradford a convincing 24-0 lead at half-time.
Catalans responded through Solomona Faataape and Toby Sexton to try and threaten a late comeback, but Blake scored again to seal a famous and comfortable win for the Bulls.

Meanwhile, Leeds Rhinos ran riot against York Knights at AMT Headingley Stadium with an eight-try showing to claim a valuable two points (46-14).
The Rhinos proved far too strong for the Super League newcomers, despite York’s shock win over champions Hull KR in Round 1.
Experienced wingers Maika Sivo and Ryan Hall stole the show, scoring two tries apiece, as the Rhinos taught the Knights a lesson about life in Super League, whilst also building confidence for their trip to Las Vegas next Saturday.

The third game on Friday Night saw a thriller between St Helens and Leigh Leopards at the BrewDog Stadium.
The Leopards were in town and looked to be in control in the opening forty minutes, but the second half belonged to Saints.
Josh Charnley opened things up, before Daryl Clark crashed over, but two further Leigh tries from Innes Senior and Bailey Hodgson set the visitors in good stead.
However, despite several injury woes, Saints came good with Kyle Feldt’s fantastic finish in the corner, bringing the scores closer together once more.
A gripping contest continued to unfold and ended with Joe Shorrocks’ match-winner as he ran onto Hastings’ pass to go flying in under the posts.
Hastings then converted to level the scores at 18-18 all, and kicked a further penalty to see Saints edge the contest and bank their first win of the new season (20-18).

Top tier action was back at Stade Ernest Wallon for the first time since 2022 in Round 2! Toulouse Olympique welcomed Castleford Tigers to the south of France and continued their strong start to the season with an impressive performance.
Toulouse ran in four tries to claim two wins from two; Reubenn Rennie was at the double, whilst Mathieu Jussaume and Benjamin Laguerre scored once each (24-12).

A Saturday Night showdown between Wigan Warriors and Hull FC was extremely one-sided at The Brick Community Stadium as the Warriors produced a ruthless display at home, which ended 34-6.
Wigan scored six tries with five different scorers - Sam Walters, Zach Eckersley, Sam Eseh and dynamic duo Jai Field and Bevan French were key men in their Round 2 victory, with the Black & Whites failing to back up their Round 1 win last weekend.

Wakefield Trinity were the only away side to end up victorious in Round 2, and got their 2026 season up and running with a tight 16-18 win against Huddersfield Giants.
Tries from Cameron Scott and Seth Nikotemo, as well as Lachlan Walmsley's brace, were just enough for the visitors on Sunday afternoon.
They did survive a late scare, however, as the Giants forged a late fightback from 14 points down, reducing the deficit to just two in the end.
