Round 3 Preview

Las Vegas meets the Betfred Super League in Round 3 with the highly anticipated event finally upon us once more in 2026!

And here is a preview of all seven matches taking place in the latest round…

Thursday 26 February

Wigan Warriors v Leigh Leopards (20.00) – live on Sky Sports

The first instalment of the Battle of the Borough has arrived!

The Warriors host local rivals Leigh Leopards in a fierce local derby on Thursday night, with the hosts looking to maintain their strong early-season form, while Leigh aim to bounce back and claim valuable bragging rights.

The sides met four times in last year’s Super League competition, with every match a thriller.

From that unforgettable 1–0 season opener, to a pure points-fest in Round 11 with Wigan taking the win, to Leigh’s commanding 18–8 home triumph in Round 17, before Wigan’s last laugh in the semis - whenever the Warriors and the Leopards collide in the Battle of the Borough, it delivers drama you simply can’t miss.

The Warriors have made one change to the 21-player squad named against Hull FC last time out, as Lukas Mason replaces Kian McDermott.

Friday 27 February

Castleford Tigers v Huddersfield Giants (20.00) – live on Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

There’s another local derby on Friday Night, with both teams desperate to get off the mark in 2026.

Castleford and Huddersfield are just two of three sides without a win to their name in the new campaign, which adds extra urgency to this West Yorkshire showdown.

Neither side have had much luck on the injury front either.

Semi Valemei, Louis Senior, Cain Robb and Brock Greacen remain out for the Tigers through injury, while Alex Mellor also drops out of the squad.

Jack Ashworth returns after serving his suspension, while Zac Cini is named for the first time since picking up an injury in pre-season.

For the Giants, Sam Hewitt drops out after being suspended for one match, with Zach Brown coming into the squad alongside Jacob Algar.

Adam Swift, Niall Evalds and Adam Clune are still a few weeks off being back in the squad, with Harry Rushton and Joe Greenwood long term absentees.

Hull FC v York Knights (20.00) - live on Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

Hull FC are back on home soil and will welcome York Knights to the MKM Stadium for the very first time.

In history, the Black & Whites have won their last 15 meetings with York. They can ill-afford to take the newly promoted Knights lightly, however, especially as Mark Applegarth’s men have already turned one Hull side over so far this season!

John Cartwright has made four changes to the side that was beaten comfortably by the Warriors, with Will Pryce and Joe Batchelor dropping out through injury. Logan Moy and Lloyd Kemp also drop out of the squad.

The quartet are replaced by Zak Hardaker, who has recovered from a dead leg, Jake Arthur, who has been nursing a hamstring strain in recent weeks, and John Asiata, who could make his long-awaited return from injury after suffering a hamstring tear in August.

Will Kirby also comes into the squad.

There are two changes to York’s squad, with Myles Harrison and David Nofoaluma joining on loan, replacing John Sagaga and Kieran Buchanan.

Saturday 28 February

Warrington Wolves v Wakefield Trinity (17.30) – live on BBC Two, Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

Super League returns to the BBC screens on Saturday afternoon as Warrington meet Wakefield in Round 3.

The Wolves have had a week out having been Hull KR’s scheduled Round 2 opponents but are now back in action and looking to go two from two.

Sam Burgess’ men showed promising signs in the opening round, emphatically beating St Helens on home soil.

It’s a tough test for Trinity who held on to win against Huddersfield in Round 2.

That said, it’s Wakefield who have won their last seven Super League meetings against Warrington, including last year’s fixture at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, 10-40.

Head Coach Sam Burgess makes one change to the match day squad from their opening round win over St Helens, as Ewan Smith replaces Luke Thomas.

The return of Caius Faatili is one that many Trinity fans will welcome with Faatili ready to make his first appearance of the 2026 Super League season. Jayden Myers and Jordan Williams are also included.

Mason Lino picked up a hamstring injury in the week leading up to the Huddersfield game and will drop out alongside Lachlan Walmsley as well as Tray Lolesio.

Catalans Dragons v St Helens (18.00, UK time) – live on Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

We may not have a sunny Perpignan just yet, but it promises to be hot when the Dragons and Saints take to the field in Round 3.

Fresh-looking, both teams are on a mission in 2026 and are close together in the current league standings (8th and 9th).

It was one apiece last year…

The Dragons are boosted by the return of skipper Ben Garcia. Matty Russell also makes his first appearances in the Catalans' squad.

For their trip to the south of France, Paul Rowley has made just one change - Noah Stephens is called into the squad selection, while Jonny Lomax drops out and is set to be on the sidelines for the next few weeks with a wrist injury.

Sunday 1 March

Hull KR v Leeds Rhinos (Saturday 28 February, 4pm Vegas time, Sunday 1 March, 12am UK time)

Viva Las Vegas!

The Robins and the Rhinos are over in Las Vegas and are ready to represent Super League on the biggest stage!

All attention will turn to this weekend’s hotly anticipated event, and there’s two important competition points still up for grabs.

It’s set to be a sensational spectacle in the American continent between the best of the best – and their meetings nearly always produce a classic.

In the regular rounds last year, Mikey Lewis and Lachlan Miller produced magical match-winners to snatch respective victories for their sides in the closing stages.

This was before a scintillating showing from the Rhinos in Round 23 as they took the win in the most recent encounter.

Who will become Las Vegas victors?

Bradford Bulls v Toulouse Olympique (15.00) – live on Sky Sports+ and SuperLeague+

Who will take Sunday’s spoils? There’s a blockbuster clash to conclude Round 3 as former Betfred Championship heavyweights Bradford and Toulouse lock horns at Bartercard Odsal.

There will be no love lost when these two reunite, especially after their last outing, which saw Toulouse come back from 16-0 down and beat the Bulls in the Championship semi-finals (24-20).

Both sides have impressed on their return to the top flight thus far, with Bradford aiming for back-to-back wins, while Toulouse will be doing everything they can to protect their perfect start.

Toulouse, along with the Warriors, are the only team to have a 100% record in Super League 2026.

Keep an eye out for Olly Ashall-Bott who has impressed in the early rounds – he’s scored tries in Olympique's last three meetings with Bradford, and is set to be a huge threat on Sunday.

Bullmania is also bound to be in full swing once more...
