Fantasy League Ins and Outs: Full-Back Special

PLAY FANTASY LEAGUE HERE!

Normal service resumes this week as the Betfred Super League returns for Round 5.

The next lot of games are fast approaching and time is running out to update your Fantasy League side ahead of Thursday Night!

With a long list of full-backs sitting on the side-lines, this list highlights which numbers 1s are still on the treatment table and which players you can replace them with...

Don’t forget you can build your Fantasy team here!

Ins:

Lachlan Miller (160k)

The Rhinos’ number 1 has been the standout fullback this season.

The West Yorkshire outfit are sat close to the top of the table and will have their sights firmly set on overtaking the Warriors, and Miller will no doubt be an instrumental part of that.

Strong on both sides of the ball, and offering plenty of attacking threat, Miller is arguably the strongest option to replace your injured full-back.

He has already accumulated 226 points in the first four rounds this season – the ninth overall performer in Fantasy League.

Charlie Staines (140k)

‘Forbes Ferrari’ is one of the Dragons’ many new recruits in 2026 and has certainly impressed since arriving from Down Under.

Expectations have been high for the 2022 NRL Grand Final winner, but it’s safe to say he’s living up to them!

Staines has made some key contributions in Rounds 1-4 and is currently Super League’s top metre maker with 814 metres made.

Other stats include three tries, 18 tackles busts and seven offloads – of all which can rack up those all-important Fantasy points!

This speedster is a strong option at full-back for any Fantasy League side, but will he be in yours?

Olly Ashall-Bott (120k)

The fancy full-back has impressed along with his side Toulouse in the first few weeks of the 2026 season.

Ashall-Bott was pivotal in their Rounds 1 and 2 victories, earning Player of the Match on both occasions, as the French side returned to the Super League.

He’s bust through a mammoth 32 tackles and crossed the whitewash four times.

He’s proved his worth to Toulouse and that he belongs at the elite level.

Priced cheaper than the other number 1s, he can provide great value to any Fantasy League team.

Toa Mata'afa (100k)

The Samoan can play in multiple positions in the backs but was handed the number one shirt by the Knights when he joined in May last year.

And he has repaid them hugely, with the Knights now enjoying the competitiveness of the 2026 Super League.

So far, Mata’afa has impressed in top flight, and priced at only 100k, he can provide good value whilst leaving a little bit of cash to spend elsewhere on your Fantasy team.

Outs:

Jai Field (170k)

The Warriors star was hospitalised with appendicitis days after dominating the Battle of Borough in Round 3.

Field is still on the road to recovery and could be out for at least another two weeks.

His absence hasn’t negatively affected Wigan just yet, however, as they continue their unbeaten run…

George Flanagan (130k)

Flanagan is just another player in the long list of injuries this season for the Giants. The 2025 Young Player of the Year contender was taken off against the Robins in Round 4. Giants head coach Luke Robinson later confirmed that the youngster will be out for several months with an ankle injury.

If Flanagan is in your side, you’d do well to replace him sooner rather than later.

Cai Taylor-Wray (90k)

A product of the Wolves Academy, Taylor-Wray must have been on cloud nine after his dazzling displays in the opening weeks of the 2026 season – making him a Fantasy must-have for his points-scoring and attractive price tag.

Wire’s number 1 has been hit with a devastating injury blow, however, with boss Sam Burgess confirming their first choice full-back will be out of action for at least four weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Arthur Mourgue (130k)

It’s been nearly a month since the French man came off against Brisbane Broncos in the Betfred World Club Challenge. And there are no signs of him returning from his pectoral injury any time soon.

Arthur Mourgue would have wanted to kick on after an impressive first season with the Robins last year, and he’ll be aiming to get back on the pitch as fast as he possibly can.

Will Pryce (150k)

The Black & Whites full-back raced out the blocks at the start of the season and starred in their opening round fixture against the Bulls.

He even picked up Player of the Match for his performance, which in turn would have accumulated plenty of Fantasy points!

Unfortunately for Pryce, however, his season was cut short as he ruptured his ACL the following week against the Warriors.

His eyes will be set on coming back better than ever in 2027!

Blake Taaffe (130k)

The Tigers off season recruitment was extensive, with the Aussie fullback being one of their star signings.

Sadly, his season ended abruptly before he had a chance to get going and show Super League potential.

Taaffe suffered a ruptured ACL in their Round 1 tie against the Warriors.

The focus now for Taaffe and the Tigers will be to get him recovered and ready to go in 2027!
