Warrington Wolves and Hull FC have jointly confirmed that an agreement has been reached for Steve McNamara to become Head Coach of Hull FC ahead of the 2027 Super League season.
As part of the agreement, Hull FC has paid a substantial transfer fee to secure McNamara’s services.
McNamara will remain fully committed to his current role at Warrington for the remainder of the 2026 season before taking up his new position at the MKM Stadium.
Hull FC can also confirm that John Cartwright has stepped away from his day-to-day duties as Head Coach with immediate effect and remains an employee of the Club.
Karl Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive of Warrington Wolves commented: “Steve has made a significant contribution during his short time with us, and we thank him for his commitment. While we are naturally disappointed to see him leave at the end of the season, we respect his decision and wish him every success in his new role."
Hull FC Chief Executive Richie Myler said: “We are delighted to secure Steve’s services. He is a coach of the highest calibre, and someone who truly understands this Club and the city. Steve McNamara coming home is a powerful moment for Hull FC.”
Both clubs will continue to work closely to ensure a smooth transition at the conclusion of the current campaign.
