Leigh Leopards’ Josh Charnley is Super League’s new all-time try-scoring record holder.

Charnley has now notched 272 tries, going one past Leeds Rhinos wideman Ryan Hall.
Hall, ironically, broke the record on the same day two years ago when he surpassed Danny McGuire’s 247 tries by scoring a brace for Hull KR against Huddersfield Giants.
Still only 34 compared to 38 year-old Hall, Charnley will now fancy his chances of pushing on and extending his impressive tally.
Regardless, the two legendary wingmen will certainly be pushing each other in the try-scoring stakes until the end of the season where the record, in theory, could now swap multiple times.
Charnley now has 16 Super League tries this term, behind only Leeds’ Maika Sivo.
He scored his first try in the competition against Hull FC while on loan at Hull KR from Wigan Warriors in July 2010.
In his career, in all competitions, he scored 164 tries for Wigan, another 69 for Warrington Wolves and has now reached 81 for Leigh.
Today was Charnley’s second Super League hat-trick in just three games having also bagged a treble against Hull FC three weeks ago.
