Super League pays tribute to Scott Dureau

Betfred Super League today pays tribute to Scott Dureau who has passed away at the age of 39 following a battle brain cancer.

Dureau will be remembered as one of the leading overseas signings of the Super League era following five seasons with the Catalans Dragons in which he appeared almost 100 times for the club. 

The halfback joined the Dragons in 2011 and quickly cemented himself as one of the leading playmakers in the competition being named in the Dream Team in both 2011 and 2012.

Prior to his move to Super League, Dureau began his professional career with Newcastle Knights in the NRL where he would also take up a coaching role post-retirement. 

In a statement, Catalans Dragons said: “A former iconic player of the club, Scott had been courageously battling cancer for several years.

“Beyond being an exceptional player, Scott was a man admired by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His outstanding talent and achievements on the field, but above all his humility and kindness, will forever remain in our memories.

“At this difficult time, Chairman Bernard Guasch and everyone at the Catalans Dragons send their deepest condolences to his wife Libby, his two daughters Imogen and Everly, his family, and all those who were close to him.”
