Round 24 Play-Off Permutations
2 hrs
Following last night’s feisty Betfred Super League clash between Hull KR and Warrington Wolves, here are the latest Play-Off implications heading into Round 24…
The Wolves, now high-flying in third place and just two points outside of the top two, could qualify for the Play-Offs this weekend.
To do so, they will need to beat Huddersfield Giants on Sunday afternoon - or draw - which would see them guarantee their place in the top six, regardless of other results.
If Wire happen to slip up in Round 24, then they will be relying on St Helens to lose to Castleford Tigers in Saturday’s tie, in order for them to qualify.
After enduring defeat last night, the Robins will have to wait another week to secure their Play-Off place.
It is not possible for the current champions to do so in Round 24.
The only other team who could ensure their Play-Off spot this weekend is Wakefield Trinity, who will be looking to bounce back from consecutive losses.
Trinity will travel to Wigan Warriors’ Brick Community Stadium on Friday Night and a win here, coupled with a Saints loss the next day, would be enough to book their spot.
If the Warriors win, however, Wakefield’s attempt to qualify is delayed for another week.
Elsewhere, the race for the League Leaders’ Shield is also heating up, with Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors locked in at the top of the table.
Who will be sitting top of the tree after the weekend?
Leigh Leopards are in sixth, four points clear of St Helens. A win in Round 24 would strengthen the Leopards' position considerably and put further pressure on the teams around them.
Finally, St Helens have kept their Play-Off hopes alive and must keep winning to be in with any chance of a top six finish.
