The Final Charge continued in the Betfred Women’s Super League this weekend, with Barrow Raiders claiming their first win of 2026 and Wigan Warriors maintaining their dominance at the top of the table.

The weekend opened with the classic Saints versus Wigan Derby, with just one game between their last meet in the opening of the Super Four Competition.

Leaders Wigan ran in 11 tries as they again dominated their neighbours, this time away from home.

Molly Jones and Grace Banks both crossed in each half, while Anna Davies’ late score took Wigan beyond the 50-point mark.

The Warriors have won all four meetings between the sides in 2026, including May’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final, and remain unbeaten in all ten BWSL fixtures this season.

York Valkyrie also claimed victory in the Super Four stage, ending Leeds Rhinos’ eight-game winning streak and leapfrogging Saints into third spot.

The Rhinos struck first at the LNER Community Stadium through Ebony Stead, before Valkyrie responded before half-time through Tamzin Renouf and Tara-Jane Stanley.

As the match entered its closing stages, the Rhinos could not find the decisive extra score, allowing York to avenge their heavy defeat to Leeds earlier this month.

In the Shield Competition, Barrow Raiders secured their first win of the season with a significant victory over Leigh Leopards.

Leah Clough opened the scoring for Barrow before Storm Cobain responded for the visitors.

The home side extended their lead through Jodie Crawford and Emma Hutchinson, with the Raiders now targeting more points from their final three games as they look to avoid the promotion play-off.

Huddersfield Giants also picked up a Shield Competition win this weekend, defeating Featherstone Rovers.

Amelia Brown crossed for four tries, while Mollie Iceton completed a brace to move the Giants six points clear of their nearest rivals in the competition.
