Jenna Foubister tops latest Woman of Steel rankings

Wigan Warriors half-back Jenna Foubister remains in pole position to be crowned the 2026 Woman of Steel.

A five-strong panel reviewed the form of players from Rounds 4-7 of the regular Betfred Women’s Super League season and the opening stages of the Super Four and Shield competitions.

The talented half-back was identified as the early frontrunner in the June Woman of Steel standings after a blistering start to the season and has continued to impress for Denis Betts’ side, scoring four tries since the first shortlist of the year.

Her outstanding club form has also been recognised on the international stage. Foubister featured for England Women in their mid-season international against France in Toulouse in July, helping Stuart Barrow’s side secure a convincing 38-4 victory as part of their preparations for the Rugby League World Cup. The playmaker also crossed for a second-half try.
Foubister is joined by her Warriors team-mate and reigning Woman of Steel, Eva Hunter, who was voted second in the rankings, with forward Megan Williams third.

A clean sweep for Wigan was completed by winger Anna Davies, who took fourth spot, with full-back Isabel Rowe placed fifth.

The five panellists whittled down a ten-player shortlist, which also included Leeds Rhinos duo Lucy Murray and Connie Boyd, plus Wigan trio Georgia Wilson, Mary Coleman and Molly Jones.

As with this year’s Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel Award, the new panel will meet on one more occasion to assess candidates after Round 13 (September 12/13).

Following Round 13, the panel will draw up a final shortlist for the Woman of Steel and begin deliberations on the eventual winner of the competition’s most prestigious individual award.
