In what is thought to be a first in professional sport, the popular winger penned a fresh contract for 2027 – just moments after scoring yet another try.
Charnley, who eclipsed Ryan Hall as the competition's top scorer earlier this season, crossed in the first half of their contest with Saints at Leigh Sports Village and was immediately handed the mock-up document to sign as he wheeled away to celebrate.
The prolific former Warrington Wolves, Wigan Warriors and England flier duly did with a beaming smile – and his club soon confirmed it wasn't just a publicity stunt: he's there to stay.
